Some Christians refer to Jesus as their personal savior rather than say, savior of the world. Is this prideful arrogance?

It's interesting that the Old Testament God almost always dealt with people as groups rather than as individuals. For example, the whole human race took the rap for Adam & Eve's sin. All humans, except Noah and company, were drowned in the flood. All the firstborn of Egypt were struck dead in Moses' time including innocent babies.

Its about choice, I chose Jesus as my personal saviour, you can too have a personal saviour in Jesus.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he sent his only son that whosover believes in Him shall have eternal life.

God sometimes does deal with people as groups I believe in the west usually family groups... and churches.... However God is not as punitive. However God dealt with Samson on His own, Judges 13-16. God dealt with just David and Bathsheeba (however that did do a little bit of triangle of effects...)

Your confusing a few terms here, first Israel is a nation and God dealt with Jews as a Nation not personally. But to Gentiles God doesn't deal with them as a Nation but as a person. Gentiles being anyone that isn't Jewish. So you can go through motions of rituals to be saved like do all the minimal things you read in the Bible you must do to be saved. Some people say this that or other depending on which group you are in? Then there are the things you just know are right and wrong but you do them anyways. This is where personal comes in, you are going thru the motions and you are faking it, or this Jesus Christ thing is very personal and you are holding yourself to strict rules about following his ways and will, which most people say with their mouth but their hearts are far away from him. How many people you know will turn the other cheek ,give away everything to feed the poor, visit the fatherless or older people, pray for sick people. This is what real christianity is, walking an extra mile when someone asks you to walk one mile

From the Protestant faith, the danger lies in making Jesus your own personal property so to speak as if you have Him in your back pocket, Jesus is the Savior of all mankind.

I don't know but that one song is awesome: you're own, personal, Jesus, someone to hear your thoughts, someone who cares.

Pick up the receiver, I'll make you a believer, la la la.
