the t-34 was a russian built main battle tank in world war two. it was the best tank in the whole war, it was involved in the biggest ever tank battle in the world, the battle of kursk, 1000 t-34 fought the same number of german tanks at close quaters, the t 34 came out on top, destroying 500 german tanks and disableing another 200, the battle was so fierce takns were fireing on each other at point blank range as there were so many tanks in such a small battle field. the american tanks used to blow up with one hit, so the t 34 was the tank most modern tanks are based on.

Oh yeah, now this is my type of question. I like tanks.

The T34 was a Soviet heavy battle tank. It was a very good tank, it was famous for driving out the Nazi scumbags from thier soil and liberate Eastern Europe from Nazi occupation.

Those German Panzers had a hard time to battle against those T34s. Those T34 were legends and are historic. The Russian T battle tank series is very popular nowadays, used by many third world countries. The latest T series tank is the T-90 main battle tank which is similar to the T-72, only difference is that T-90 has better armour.

Yes, it was first designed and manufactured and used in Russia against the invading Nazi forces. The Germans used bigger more massive tanks like the Panzer and Tiger tanks. The T-34 was smaller, faster and had sloped armour. This was the first tank with sloped armour. Sloped armour deflects shots and absorbs only 50% of the energy from a blast. Tamya the miniature model making company makes little replicas of tanks and aircraft. I happen to have a T-34 miniature. It looks neat and rugged. This tank had the advantage of heating up faster in the winter. It also has a better fuel economy than their opponent tanks. It was easier to manufacture and assemble. So,more were produced at a faster rate. This was devestating to the outnumbered Germans since they were fighting on multiple fronts and Russia was fighting them on only one. The eastern front with more people. Hitler screwed up thinking they could make Russia surrender in under 6 weeks. He was like Napoleon and he fell for the same tactics the Russians used during Napoleons invasion 150+ years earlier. The Russians simply kept retreating and destroying anything of value to the invaders. Slowly surrounding them and starving them out. Hitler sent the first wave of 600 000 troops into Russia. The people and the army retreated so far. That they ran out of food and suplies. They were surrounded and had to give up. Inorder not to starve. This simple tactic gave the Russians 600 000 rifles, ammo and various supplies because of one of hitlers tactical errors. I can't believe Hitlers' foolishness. It's unbelvable. Im sure his Generals knew from the start how stupid he was. But, he also got to decide who lives and dies. So, they couldn't really tell him to leave the war manuvers to them. He ordered an invasion in the summer. Not, early spring to give him more time before winter. They still didn't have this tank in the beginning. But, they would of lost without coming up with it. The T-34 and probably the Panzer and Tiger tank drivers drove over opposing soilders running out of their trenches or hiding spots to save bullets. The two most decisive battles of WW2 on the eastern front were; The Battle of Stalingrad and The tank battle of Kursk.

The T-34 was a good tank for its time, but it DID have flaws; There are reports from Russian tank crewmen that detail the results of hasty production, such as transmission problems and lack of radios and gun sights. Some T-34 transmissions were so bad that drivers carried mallets that they used to beat the shift levers into gear. Another flaw was when the Russians, needing to conserve rubber, started making all-steel cast roadwheels for the T-series tanks; the wheels overstressed the Christie-style suspension components, and caused such excessive vibration at speed that crewmens' filling would rattle out of their teeth. A great many T-34's left their factories completely unpainted, manned by the factory workers who built them, such was the crisis Russia found herself in at the time.

They were not perfect tanks, and the Germans accounted for thousands of them on the battlefields. Their saving grace was that they existed in astronomical numbers.

the t-34 is a russian built tank specifically designed for the terrain it would be fighting on. under the russian winter conditions. and fitted with a cannon that was at least the equal of what the german army had sent namely their heavy main tiger battle tank. the t-34 was lighter in weight with wider tracks and their most powerful engine for speed and maneuverability on the soft soils of the russian steppes they were less prone to freeze up from severe cold. the 3 man crew were warmed by heaters within. the armor was thinner, relying on the use of low profile curved surfaces to deflect instead oif absorbing hits

T-34 tank was developed by the Soviet Union in 1934 and used by Soviet tank forces to drive the invading German armies out of the Soviet Union. The T-34 was substantially inferior to the German tanks in most measures, but the Germans over-stretched their supply lines eastward, and the T-34s snapped those lines. The ensuing debacle was the start of the death spiral of Nazi Germany, leading ultimately to unconditional surrender to the Allies.

With Farzand's answer, you'll have a good idea about this tank...
Nobody mentioned it, but maybe they forgot, that this tank was also known among German soldiers, as a German field commander on the east front said it..."T-34 is quiet death, it did not rumble, it did not get bogged, we could only stop them when there was someone left to shoot it when it passed by...otherwise, we knew it was impossible to manuver around them."

The Soviet T-34 was a rugged front line combat tank which was the mainstay of the Soviet arsenal. Incredibly rugged and could withstand a direct hit from a German Panzer !
