Atheist fanatics like to say, "Atheism is one WITHOUT the belief in God(s). When you are first born, you have no belief in anything so technically, you are an atheist." Now obviously this is not a very good definition of atheism since it is not specific. I mean, you can't use a lesser definition of atheism just to promote atheist awareness or whatever. What's to stop people from saying animals are atheist or fertilized eggs are atheist? This should be the only definition of atheism that atheists use:

a·the·ism
1.the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2.disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.

I think atheist fanatics like to push their agenda in places where it's unnecessary to be pushing it.

I never said people are born religious either. You people assume everyone is Christian.

Some atheists are "pretty annoying" just as some theists are "pretty annoying". Why? Because we're all human and annoyance is a feeling.

There are many things wrong with your post...

First and foremost, the definition you quoted includes the one you're against -- you are just apparently too stupid to realize it. Let me make it clearer for you.

There are two ways to negate the statement "I do believe that God does exist." They are:
1) I do believe that God does NOT exist.
2) I do NOT believe that God does exist.

(These happen to match the definition you cited.)

Both are atheism, because they are the negation of the theistic statement. The second is the one you seem to have a problem with...

The prefix "a" (and "an") means "without," not "against." You are thinking of the prefix "anti." So, just like apolitical means without political beliefs, and anorexic means without appetite, and anemic means without the normal amount of red blood cells, aphonia (without a voice), achromatic (without color)...etc etc for like several hundred words... why should atheism be any different?

And even more, if I were to grant your argument, what then do we call people who are not convinced by theistic claims? ... or those that don't care? ...or those that have never heard of the god in question? You'd have to coin a term for every possible inflection of disbelief.

(And don't even think of invoking "agnosticism" -- Thomas Huxley is probably turning in his grave on how his term has been hijacked -- it refers to epistemology, not metaphysics)

You should stick to subjects that are more within your grasp, like paint-by-numbers.

Because Christians are being pretty annoying most of the other time.

I don't agree that people are born atheists, people are born with tendencies towards animism. Technically a non-theistic cosmology. It flows from our being social animals, we assert human motives and properties in things and behind occurrences in the world.

"I think atheist fanatics like to push their agenda in places where it's unnecessary to be pushing it." If you're trying to sound enlightened and reasonable you are failing miserably.

Given the international omni-media platform religious fanatics push their agendas from it seems discriminatory to suggest that atheists shouldn't make our opinions known in any arena.

Atheism like all belief structures(yes it is a belief structure look at the first definition) atracts fanatics because it is a way to try gain dominace by trying to force their beliefs on someone else. Most Fanatics in anything are trying to gain a feeling of power becuase they feel vunerable in someway, it is a way of compensating with a feeling of powerlessness that they can't seem to cope with any other way.

You ever notice that Atheists are hypocrits as well? They say that they hate Christians because Christians are always pushing their beliefs on them. Yet here they are in a religious forum pushing their beliefs on us. Why are they here? I thought they didnt believe in God yet they sure spend alot of time here talking about God.

They are running from God and are desperate to prove that God's love and grace do not exist. They need to be right because they have been somehow deeply hurt sometime in the past and did not feel God's loving touch as profoundly as they thought was possible. People put up barriers, not God.

did you ever notice that when you point out someone is in error and they know it, like if they lied then they get uptight and annoying, but if it was just a simple mistake they just say OH and let it go. Atheists have that same little guy in there beating on their brain cuz inside they know they are in error.

Most are in rebellion and suffer from a pride fixation.

Secular fundamentalists are as annoying as religious fundamentalists. All are involved in judgement. If we get rid of the judgement (especially by getting rid of a deity that judges and supports the concept of hell) then we'd all be better off.

Atheism is a beleif like BALD is a hair color.

My dear man, no child is born with the positive beleif that there is a god, all such beleif is taught mankind as children, period, it is a statement of fact, everyone is born atheist...Besides, you only find them annoying because you can't answer their questions honestly without questioning your own faith..
