I like Winky Wright, but i think he was stupid not to take an immediate rematch against Jermain Taylor when he had the chance. I know he feels he got a raw deal with the draw in the first fight, but instead of bolting from the ring after the fight and acting like a 5th grader, why not try to right what he felt was wrong by fighting Taylor again and this time go out and leave no doubt who is the better man. I like to hear some views on this. The first fight was very close and not the highway robbery that Wright made it out to be. And the 12th round was up for grabs and Wright should have went out and fought and proved to the judges that he wanted it instead of clowning and not doing anything. I actually had Wright winning the fight by 1 point after 11 rounds but he gave away the 12th and if he goes out and takes it then the fight is probably his. He turned down 5 mil for the rematch and a chance to prove to people that he is better. Not a smart move to me! What's your opinion?

I agree with you Breeze that he should have taken the rematch right away. It was a close fight and there's always a chance that a close fight could end in a draw. And while i always respect my man Brent F's opinions, i have to disagree with him saying that Wright won the first fight easily. Both fighters landed some good shots in a back and forth fight. Taylor i think landed the harder, more telling shots while Winky landed a higher volume of punches and Winky suprisingly took the fight to Taylor. Both fighters faces showed the wear and tear of a competitive, tough close fight after it was over so to say either man "easily" won is a bit of a stretch to me. I scored the fight a draw also and if Wright is so unhappy about the outcome, all he has to do is fight him again. Sometimes that's what rematches are for, like in the case of Toney vs. Peter, the decision for Peter was questionable so they are going to do it again. I would love to see Wright-Taylor 2.

I honsetly think Taylor was much harder fight for him then he anticipated and maybe he had nothing left in the later rounds. He is not used to taking as many punches as he did and Taylor is one to adjust and be better in the 2nd fight as evident in his two matches with Hopkins. Wright just didn't want to go through another war and prefers fights where he takes as little punishment as possible like in his fight with Trinidad. Perhaps he figured a war without a guaranteed decision was not worth it this late in his career as he can still make good money with other fighters. I'd much rather see Taylor fight some more exciting fighters but if I were Wright I definitely would have wanted a rematch just for another shot at the title.

Winky will fight Taylor again, you can bet on it.
Winky believes he won the fight, he has alot of pride and believes he won the fight, as i do, though really could have gone anyway, it was not a robbery.
So he is still pissed, and rejected the 5 million offer.
He wanted equal money, which i understand, but i disagree with.
He simply did not win in the eyes of the judges, so he is not the champ, so he should get less.
He thinks he won, so he does not understand that he is getting paid less.
Winky is still the number 1 ranked contender, so he will get another shot, maybe for even more money than the original 5 million offer.

Winky acted like a baby! It was a tough close fight that could've went either way and he acted like he won 11 of the 12 rds and they just stole it from him! If he felt so slighted and robbed and he had a chance to do it again, then why didn't he? I lost respect for Winky after the way he acted when the fight was over. Just fight the man again and stop whining like a middleweight brat!

There's serious talk of a rematch as we talk about this. Winky would dust Taylor in a rematch and win the fight as he did in their first encounter. I thought he won that fight easily. It's a mute point.
