Okay, the "looking down" thing may have been too much. I it was the best way to explain what I meant at the time. I just tend to hear all of this stuff where people are looked down upon because of having sex before marriage like it's blood on your hands :/ At least that's what my family made it look like.

Ideally, people should remain virgins until marriage. But, in this day and age a lot of people don't. I just think it's common sense to stay a virgin until marriage(even though I didn't). My reasoning here(personally) has nothing to do with the Bible, though the Bible does agree with it. Sex with the person you love is so wonderful. And if you have had sex with other people beforehand, it takes away so much of the beauty. The act of love making is a sacred gift and since I was not a virgin when I married the man I now love so very much, I cannot give that precious gift(of first time/only man) to him and only him. I wish my husband was the only man I had ever been with. Because he is a wonderful man and deserved a virgin - someone way better than me. He deserved someone who respected herself enough to wait, and he deserved someone to wait just for him. I'm just blessed by God that he does love me. Peace.

The bible does not look down on non-virgins. The Bible suggest that we remain a virgin until we marry because it's what is best for us. Less problems, less drama, less confusion.
The Bible looks down on pharisees. People who publicly harshly judge others for not keeping the law to the letter. These folks are the only people that Jesus had zero tolerance for, by the way.
Christians are human and screw up like everyone else, therefore; you are going to find some that decide to stay a virgin and some that do not. Regardless, we all fall short in some area and that's why we needed a Savior.
Jesus Saves!

I have heard such ramblings but actually I never read anywhere that being a virgine was important though for disease control I am certain it is a good idea. That word fornication in the NT refers to a type of idolitry where christians were fratrinizing with Temple prostitutes which was a form of pagan worship. Preachers have just twisted it to suit their ourposes and it has been going on for so long most of them even believe it refers to premarital sex and all other sorts of sex which it does not. Check out the cultural history. Virginity was a big thing in the Jewish culture but I never saw it made a big deal about in the Word. For explicite sex rules check out Leviticus around 15 I think. It is pretty specific.

Remember that reliable contraception is relatively new. Same thing applies to STD treatment. So the consequences of booty call was potentially more serious as recently as 50 years ago.
Also there may be some confusion about the word virgin. For example many Christians believe Jesus was born to a virgin mother. However some pretty smart scholars and historians believe that is due to a mistranslation of the scriptures and that the word translated as virgin simply meant young woman.

Mama Mary was pregnant with Jesus after God placed his soul in her body. That's why she's the purest of the pure and Holy Virgin. Even so, it was God's doing in creating this miracle and the reason for that was Mama Mary was born without Original sin. It is possible and this happened once for God's bidding only.
When having sex before marriage is meaning you disrespect and disobey God's wishes in leaving a woman pure until she found her TRUE partner. When having a divorce and remarrying is called adultery, as God said. It's because the first wo/man you marry SHOULD be the only one you should be with till death do you part and by having another ceremony with another wo/man is committing sin in its own terms. I believe Having sex after marriage is better because you get to plan everything before it actually happens. Kids, House, Life and money...
God NEVER looks down on anyone but only on himself because he created someone who does not wish be faithful in his rule. God loves everyone and hates no one but only wants one thing...For everyone to be holy and faithful to his word.

The bible has some weird stuff related to sex in it. Leviticus' anti-homosexuality stuff (as well as the other restrictions on sex) is there because the jewish tribes wanted to divinely mandate procreative sex in order to increase their numbers. The virgin birth metaphor is taken literally and the link between virginity and godliness is unfortunately made. The virgin birth metaphor is a commonly-used religious metaphor to symbolize enlightenment. It has nothing to do with mothers or Mary. It was used to represent the enlightenment of Jesus and the Buddha.
Unfortunately, with all these negative interpretations on sex, we get thousands of years of conditioning and the results are dramatic.

The Bible in details has become out dated. Those who miss the spirit behind each mention in it and try to follow or force others to follow in details are puritans and are not realistic.
Vaginal manipulation was not necessary nor was ever felt, because those days the human species were not as inquisitive as they are to-day. More over, the moment a girl used to attain puberty she used to be married off in those days. Virginity had no risk due to social practices. But these days to give undue importance to virginity is uncalled for and out-dated.
Purity has other connotations besides virginity. One should be mentally and emotionally pure and possessive to ensure harmony and lasting marital happiness. This aspect in marriage as understood in the light of the interpretation of the Church and the Bible would remain valid so long as human nature remains unchanged.

Just make sure to practice "safe sex".
The Bible, an interesting work of fiction , part of thed many midddle eastern tales and legends does not "look down" on anything. People do that kind of thing.

Well...if a book is going to be looking down and passing judgement on anything. Let the book judge my hair....this is really bad hair.
I don't usually care what a book thinks....but I do read the Bible and I do believe in God and Jesus Christ.
Jesus tended to teach about love and forgiveness.....not too sure about the "looking down" on others part.

I follow the Biblical faith and I am a virgin and I have no problem maintaining my pure status because I know there is a reward for being faithful in all righteous things...
I also am a virgin for personal reasons not just religious ones...
