I met my partner (2 years and counting) through match. I find the most important thing is to meet people and think of them as friends - you cannot know if anybody could be a partner from a website. I made some lovely friends from match, and had no flings. I wrote to my partner at the moment, and said, though I fitted none of her boxes, did she want to have a cup of tea as I was passing through London. We met various times, rather compulsively, as we were neither's ideal partner but were attracted to each other and 2 years later, here we are, happy as Larry. So, good luck! And enjoy the people you'll meet! (and take care)

Every cloud has a silver lining.
Your fairweather friends desert you in your time of crisis, when they should be standing by you to give emotional and other support. It is indeed a revelation. Be grateful to God for opening your eyes.
That's the silver lining on your cloud.

As for the cloud itself, it will drift away in time as every other cloud does, and the blue sky will emerge again. Here in India, even dark monsoon clouds don't stay longer than 3 or 4 months. The sun drives them away.

Chin up, and smile. You'll be alright, I know it.
