Perfectly normal. Their brain is moving much faster than their mouths at that age, and they kind of get "stuck". My son did the same thing and it only lasted a month or two. My daughter just went through it and it didn't even last that long.

Worrying will not do any good. You do however, need to see a doctor for some tests. My niece, now 4, was speaking at an elevated level when she was 2 1/2 and she started to stutter and almost quit talking altogether because it was too hard for her to do it anymore. My sister, (her mom), took her to a child psycologist at our local university and she happened to be an expert in speech therapy for children as well. If you need any help with this, e-mail me and I will give you the e-mail address of the lady that helped my niece. BTW...my niece is perfect now!! We were scared of autism as well, but fortunately she just caught back on!!

Go to the doctor immediately. It may be nothing. Your kid is still going through growth and this may be a natural, normal thing. But who knows? Why wonder? Go to your kid's pediatrician and find out. Autism, if that's what this is, if caught early, can be treated very successfully. If you wait too long, it can't be treated as easily (and the treatment for severe autism is intense and takes a lot of work). Good luck.

If it continues, have it checked out. Sometimes perfectly normal kids just suddenly change in odd ways for no apparent reason. My grandchild was speaking VERY well for his age and then, out of the blue, he sounded like he was speaking Klingon or something, and sometimes, still does. But there's nothing wrong.
Kids are just SCARY!
