It is an old Judaic tradition. So is the Wedding Veil.
Actually, it's a superstition from their pagan days.
The story of Jacob and Leah and Rachel is quite illustrative of this custom, like you suggest.
Jacob actually fell in love with Rachel, but got fooled into marrying Leah, who was not so attractive, because she was the elder sister and in their tradition, the elder sister had to be married for the younger one to do so.
Merry Christmas!!!!!

The custom is for the bride and groom to no longer see one yet another commencing precise after the rehersal dinner up till the bride starts off her walk down the aisle. i do no longer think of they oftentimes talk on the telephone the two. it is likewise custom for the bride and groom to grant one yet another presents, yet which could be achieved the day of the marriage, promptly following the rehersal dinner (previously they section techniques for the night), or on the initiating of the honeymoon. My fiance needs to adhere with the custom of no longer seeing one yet another previously the marriage (which i'm no longer likely happy approximately yet because of fact that's his wedding ceremony too, i am going alongside with it). I even have warned him, although, that i will text fabric him the morning of to determine he's wide awake. LOL.

That is a good question. I can tell you that wont make any difference in the outcome or "luck" of the marriage, as widely believed.
You might get a better answer if you re-post this in the etiquette section. They seem to know the origin of everything over there.
Good luck
