Some people might hear God today. I don't doubt it, but then they should also be aware that satan can put thoughts in their heads too. Most Christians know right from wrong as far as this goes and should be able to know the difference. Also there is a mental disorder called schizophrenia. These people too hear voices talking to them. I know because I use to work with them and some even believed to be talking to God.

You are very agnostic!!!!! Does it really matter what other people believe? It's good to sort through your thoughts and beliefs and see what is real and what can be trashed. People believe what they want, even you.

I often ponder the same question...I mean many of the Saints catholics believe in today, if they were actually living now, would be put into mental institutions for the mentally insane. By the way question for you man...what happened to the picture of the red eye that you had up? That was pretty cool!!!

if people believed the profets , that was more than 2 thousand years ago,....people was different back then, they were less busy.
(there is no real proof that indeed there where profets and indeed stupid people believed them).
nowadays, if a guy stands on a corner claiming he has communication with the bible god, we may just think he is talking on his cell.

Surely that's simply down to the belief systems that were in place at the time.
If people are generally "more religious" then wouldn't they be more likely to accept that god is speaking directly to one of them ? After all, I don't believe atheism existed as an option until relatively recently.
As we are now far more secular and "scientific" in our thinking, then we are less willing to accept such an idea.

In ancient times, folks who heard gods talking to them were called miraculous, and made into priests. Today, they're called paranoid schizophrenics and given Thorazine. Whether one or the other is a better idea is up to you.

Prophets were not always believed or accepted. Read the Book of Amos. People then ignored him and paid a very high price for it.

There is the 'Holy Spirit' which is the Spirit of Truth and it separates Truth from fiction. If a person says they heard from God then it should be productive of a valid message that the Holy Spirit would recognize or not.

Ain't that the truth.
I think it was banned by Christians though...saying that anyone who has something to say from God is a false prophet and is immediatley denounced. I think its called Apotolic Succession or something like that. But thats in the Christian faith, I don't know about the other religions.

Well, you can't know there's a difference. I hear God sometimes, but not audibly. I hear Him in my mind and recognize His voice. The way I recognize His voice is because He is truth. And with so many random thoughts coming through, when the truth steps in, it's like a light shining in the darkness. It causes everything false to flee away. Peace.
