Yes that's right! 'coz XP uses NTFS file system for system partiton in comparison of 98's FAT32 for system. This is base requirement of XP to complete its security, stability and speed issues, so it install itself only on NTFS, now you will have to format or completely remove ur C: drive. (but u can force to use FAT32).. No its not specific for MP3's, its for all ur system files. other drive will be FAT32.

Hi!
Reformatting means just that, redoing the hard drive. And you will lose everything on the drive. However, if your are doing XP Upgrade, you won't lose your files. You will just have the updated Windows Operating System. Also, before doing so, check the system requirements for Windows XP and see if your computer meets those requirements...IE RAM, speed of processor..etc.
I hope this helped!
Good Luck!

Whatever exists in the partition that is being formatted is lost. Kindly backup the files (in your case the mp3 files) that you want and then format it.

Yes, everything that you have on the partition that you want to install XP on will be gone. Back them up to a separate partition, most ideally, a separate drive.
