Because everyone has a narrow view of the world. Some more than others to where they don't know why things are bad.

Some people are just products of the environment they grew up in. It can also be result of the person's own inability to think beyond that environment.

Travel, reading, culture and education are the only remedies I know of. I shall not mention who I am talking about here, but certain cultures and beliefs can be more tolerant than others. That is closer to my definition of openness. Some cultures are closed, but there is usually good reason for it buried in history.

It is sometimes the fault of their parents who did not give them an opportunity stand and discover for themselves, in their childhood.

Most of the time they are lazy drug addicts that spent all their rent money on crack.
