Ribs definitely the most. My hips hurt a lot and so did my ankle but I was told by the artist that usually there is more pain where you are the fleshiest on your body because the needle has more skin to go through but then again there is also some pain where your tattoo would be directly over a bone since there is very little skin to go through. The lower back and upper back tattoo I have hurt the least ( I have 17 tattoos). Pain factor is also a matter of how big you're getting a tattoo and how detailed it is (when there is a lot of detail and they go over the same spot over and over then that hurts). then again everyone's tolerance for pain is different and just because it didn't hurt to tattoo my wrist doesn't mean it's not going to hurt like hell for you.

I have four tattoos and the one on my foot hurt the most. If you get a small tattoo on your foot it won't really hurt, however if the entire tope of your foot is tattooed, like mine, it hurts a lot. My foot was swollen for a week and bruised for 2 weeks. My right hand hurt the least. My back hurt a little, when he got to the end of the tattoo it started to hurt a lot. Around my ankle it actually tickled a lot, I was giggling because it tickled so much. It really depends on how long your session will be, at first it won't hurt a lot because your body's natural pain killers will kick in...

Any fleshy area is going to hurt the least, so a lot of it depends on you own body type. Areas where the skin is tight or the tattoo will be going over bone are the most painful, such as the ankle, across the spine, hands, etc.
The most painless are normally the back of the shoulder, the upper arm area, fleshy section of the hip.

I would say that tatoos hurt the least on the chest. The arms and legs are pretty tender so they should not hurt their either, but if you are a female, do not wear pantyhose for awhile, if you get a tattoo on your leg. My ex-girl friend got a tatto on her leg, wore pantyhose the next day, and her leg got infected. Do not get a tattoo on the neck or cheek, because it will not only hurt, but you will break out in hives. The back is also a safe place for tattoos. Also keep tattoos small and simple. My tattoos are small diamonds and my dad has a small heart tattoo. Peace signs are cool as well. My ex-girl friend also has a "Betty Boop" tattoo.

Tattoos hurt the most where the skin is the thinnest and there is the least fat beneath it.
My most painful ones were on my chest and the inside of my biceps.
The thing to remember is that as soon as they lift the needle it stops hurting. Don't let pain be a factor if you really want it in a specific place. You won't die.

Usually, the lower back tends to hurt the most because it has the least fat.
Also, the ankle and legs tend to hurt, too.
The buttock tends to hurt the least due to the excess fat and skin.
The abdomial area is also a less painful route.
If your tattoo is going to be a picture, I best advise you to place it on your back area. Maybe, near your shoulders. That'll look nice.
Good luck, and I wish you the best painless experience.

It shouldn't be too bad especially if yu got a lot of muscle. It'll hurt, but the most painful places are near yur armpit and down yur sides like over yur ribs. Basicly anywhere where the skin is very thin and close to the bones. Yur arm would probally hurt the least.

I had a lady bug tattoo on top of left foot about 3 weeks ago, thought it would be really painful but it actually didn't hurt much at all! Ankles and inside of arm are supposed to be really painful.

Tattoos mostly hurt anywhere there isn't alot of meat. Like for instance your lower back. There isn't alot of meat there it's skin and bone. Your shins, shoulder blade, and chest.
