Seriously, if there is NOTHING how can anything be created? don't we need Something to work with to create anything? can people make pottery with nothing? don't they need material? with God anything is possible so i believe He created everything and He did a Very good job at it too. but....? how does anything RANDOMLY get created from nothing? i really would like to understand what is logical about that thanks

There is no such thing as nothing as you state.
Some people think that science disproves a God or a Higher Power, actually the more science discovers the more it points to something greater than we can ever imagine.

When you speak of random creating.....I use an analogy on this, which is....take apart piece by piece a 747 Jet Plane. Make the pieces so small that they can only be seen by a microscope.
Then put all those pieces in a Wind Tunnel.......mix well and then how often would those parts be randomaly mixed before they produced that jet plane? Probably never. Just like the universe.......there just has to be a Higher Power

Yes. The Universe came into being with what is known as the big bang and all the things which exist now exist because of that explosion. The question is what was there before the big bang? Nothing. Nothing that we can know for certain because the instruments we have cannot see into a Place before the universe began. when we have an answer for you we will get it to you.

I would like to know what is "Illogical"here. Scientists investigate the universe, in whatever field they happen to partake in, Look and see what is there, and show findings. Current findings are the ones you and I are talking about now. Are they The Only True answers? No. Could God Be The Answer? Sure! Let Science Investigate things tho so we Can KNOW, instead of Taking Things on FAITH. Faith is nice but it doesn't cut it as far as Inquiries about Life and The Universe go. We Need To dig Deeper. God, and Believers In him, Tend Not to want to do that. The only way To Find the Truth Is to search for it. That is what Science does. Will it find all the answers? I hope so, but no one really knows. We hope to tho, and That's what's Important.

May not be logical, But it is the Way Humans work. Hope that sheds some light on things for ya!

Enjoy

I think the issue is not whether there is god or not but, instead, the problem of making god into a projection of people's human thought system. We narrowly define the mystery of existence by creating a deity and giving it these ego-based attributes of special love, reward, punishment, judgement, and in need of worship and obedience. We arrogantly make this be god and don't ever question what we're doing. Atheists look at this ludicrous thing and say it can't be real.
When we get to 'God' - the Unmeasurable, That Which Has Always Been - then we're left with something profound and beyond our imagination and concepts. We have a universe that is modeled based on quantum physics, where matter and energy can and do arise randomly from nothing (based on Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle). And we have a universe where everything is intimately connected (Bell's Theorem). But these explain things ONLY within our universe. Where does all this come from? Before the universe (even if we can define a 'before'), we have the Something that has always been and contains within it all these properties and potentials -- Something so powerful that a universe can come into being from nothing and then proceed along laws governed by quantum physics. But where did this Something come from? And what is It? It's beyond all form and imagination -- it has to be, given that the universe itself is what gives rise to time, space, form, consciousness, etc. This Something intimately contains everything in it -- including us -- and it means that we as well as everything have always been (and our real nature must be that same non-form, beyond-imagination).

You asked a science question, and here it is: The laws of science does not state that the earth or anything was made from nothing, it states that the big bang theory threw material into space from the explosion.

Now for a counter-point: Something from nothing...let's see...God has never proved his existence, yet people believe in him...from nothing.

Since you posted your question in the religious section, I want to say that the easiest way to irritate someone is to bash their personal beliefs (as you should probably feel from my counterpoint). People have a right to believe in God or not if they chose. Your question was biased and therefore entices a person to feel angry.

If I did not answer your question; I'm sorry. I just felt that the playing field under this subject should be leveled.

It happened at the big bang, happens routinely in space (virtual electron-positron production), and as long as the conservation rules are followed, can happen most anywhere. Now there is nothing wrong with believing that God created things in the first instance -- no scientist can prove you wrong, or would even argue the point. But the problem with such a belief is that it is useless: you cannot use it to predict anything. (By the way, that's provable.)

"Do the laws of science tell us how things get created out of nothing?"

No, but that question is a bit silly because we have no evidence that "nothing" ever existed, we only have evidence that something has always existed. Because of this, it is safe to assume that the universe has always existed and therefore no creator is necessary.

If for some reason you want to believe that though; that "in the beginning" there was absolutely nothing, then there was nothing to stop nothing from becoming something.

Could you explain what created God? If God created everything how did God come to be? I'm not atheistic in my views... however, I'm just throwing these out there so you can understand why people ask these questions. Your point of view is not exactly the most logical either if you think about it...

Only a handful of very brave, very hard-nosed cosmologists really speculate about how the universe came to be. But here's the thing, just saying, "well, God created it" leads you to infinite regress.

Because, as amazing as the universe is to "simply exist", your God is even more amazing and therefor even more unlikely to exist without cause.

That kind of logic defeats itself.

I dare you to read this:

http://www.ldolphin.org/zpe.html

It is about zero point energy. The reality is that stuff does come out of "nothing" and the laws of physics are playing catch up. Facts are funny things. Just when you think you have it all figured out something else happens!

And just what makes you believe there was ever nothing. There is no reason to believe anything was created from nothing. There is reason to believe there was always something thorough infinity. It is ridiculous to assume the universe was created either by a God or from nothing. xx
