I not sure, they were big back in the late 50's to early 60's with the Cuban Missile Crisis. They similar to a Storm/Tornado shelter. You could probably buy a large Septic Tank, I guess 2000 gallon or more if possible. Make a entry and place 4-8 feet under ground. Have Solar powered GEL Batteries and Oxygen & Hydrogen Tanks for a sealed system. Mix to preference. May be able to have a Gas generator, I would vent to outside and use an intake from outside so it not use your inside air, seal system. IF, you can, LEAD, from old batteries, whatever, At least on top, maybe sides and bottom if possiable. Just buy Canned foods, and not waste money on that survival rip off crap. You will be surprised how long canned food actully last, you be dead before you starve. NO Vents to outside and a seal door. Maybe a Video setup so you can see what happening outside and rig up a Oxygen sensor from a car outside to help know air conditions. I know this sound bad to animal activists, but, it not matter they be dead then anyway. But some small finches or mice. Have an outside cage you can release one into through a trap door and see how they do over time to know if it safe to come out. ALSO have a sump-pump just in case there any water start coming it. Everything need to be sealed from the outside to be most effective.
You could have a big hole dug with a backhoe and use concret blocks. pour a 3 inch floor and roof.
