Just be honest with him and tell him that you don't feel the same way. He'll appreciate your honesty more than being played for a fool.

Face to face is always a better way to break up with someone, even if it is only after two dates. Just tell the guy that you feel that this is going too fast and you would like to see other people as you are feeling a little closed of with this situation. It also depends on how open u want to be with him, cos honesty is a good thing when it comes to breaking up. cos it makes you feel better later. Trust me i have done it successfully, in most times guys are just relieved to know that.

wow! I just had to do the same thing with someone I dated for a week. The polite thing to do is keep it all level and understanding and never lie about what's going on. Tell him outright, but.....

I tried to tell him face to face, like a formal breakup.....he promised he would do better and never really listened to me.

I tried being all nice and boring and he latched on more.

I tried being mean and picking fights for no reason, he still thought we were more than we were.

I even tried not answering his calls. That just forced him to call me back 6 times in an hour.....every freakin' hour.

Eventually he got the hint when I never returned his call, ever. I am so glad I don't have to keep my phone off at work now :P

I can tell you that if none of these things work for you, call the police and see about your local city or state stalker laws. You may have to press charges if he doesn't let up.

I wouldn't do it face to face in this situation. There really is no need to, as you've only been out twice and there wasn't any "going steady" stuff. Secondly, any in-person contact will likely send him a mixed message, or he may be too excited over your presence for anything to sink in. I would wait until he calls you, and then simply tell him you two don't have enough in common to date anymore. Be prepared for him to attempt contact with you afterward, but ignore it. Let the answering machine pick up calls for a while, delete all E-mail from him, and don't respond to his instant messages.

Don't. This guy is probably the best thing that's ever going to happen to you; here is your chance to train him to be what he's supposed to be. Do let him know that he calls you too often though, hint that it's more romantic to make the girl wait. If, later on it doesn't work out, then you've just helped the next girl down the line. GOOD GUYS DESERVE A BREAK!

First off, you aren't dumping him because you are only dating him. Dumping is a relationship term.
Tell him kindly but either in person or on the phone that you would like to pursue other interests.
Dating is just getting to know each other, I'm not sure when this generation started thinking it was sex and a commitment, but it's nothing so serious and as such means you can just call it off at any time.
Good luck, HTH

Be very polite but let him know you must/have to move on. If he's a smart man he will understand and give you some space. No need to be mean. A polite "Thank You it's been nice and good luck" should do it.

Why would it be that serious after two dates. After so few dates, I think you're fine over the phone. Just tell him that it's been fun but you're really not interested in pursuing anything further and that you wish him luck and then just don't take his calls.

Tell him, I had to win a bet over dating the most pathetic person I've ever met. But no one saw us out together the first time, so they made me go out with you again as proof. But be fair to this guy and split the million dollars you got for going out with him 50\50.. That should soothe any hard feelings he may have over this experience.

You don't need to do it face-to-face in my opinion. I also don't think it's "dumping" since you've only gone out with the guy twice. But since he sounds clingy, maybe you should say you got back with your old boyfriend or something.
