Can I ask someone to please describe the conflict as briefly as possible (especially the main problem)? No matter how much I read the detailed descriptions, they always seem to be too wordy...

It's a complicated situation, which is why explanations get wordy.

Short version: Israel was created by UN resolution in modern Palestine, a Jewish country in the middle of many Islamic states. Many Palestinians hate Israel for taking "their" land. When Six Days War broke out (multiple Arab countries tried to invade Israel) Israel won (with some American help) and even MORE Palestinians fled the area. Israel kept some of the land it "conquered" as security zones. This caused MORE Palestinians to be disastisfied with the situation, as they see their land / homeland conquered by Jews. Israel itself has many factions and some extreme right-wingers call for full settlement of those security zones so they can be later annexed as Israeli territory, while moderates don't want to provoke the Palestinians any further. Palestinians are allowed to work and live in Israel (and indeed, a few made it onto regional soccer teams competing for national title) but are not considered citizens, making their status and lives uncertain, adding to their disillusionment. Many joined terrorist organizations (or freedom fighters, depending on viewpoint). Subsequent wars between Arab countries and Israel had not helped, as terrorists plague the border area.

Well, what happened was the a state for the Jews of Europe within Palestine was proposed by the UN. The only problem was that the local Arabs did not want to see such a state.

To the Arabs, it would seem like as if a complete stranger saying "look, theses are God's chosen people, and now leave your homes and give them your land."

If you were in the place of those local Arabs, I think anyone would react similarly. The British had firm control of the entire region. The Jewish militias poisoned the entire political process through assasinations and intimdations. They have commited attrocities on a grand scale. The Brits were kicked out, politics got messy and the Arabs and the Israelis have been fighting ever since. Thats the whole story.

Go to the link I have provided, I am sure you might understand some more.

In 1947, the world through the UN partitioned Palestine and gave the Jews land, because the world felt guilty about the Nazis and the concentration camps. Unfortunately, this caused many Palestinians to give up their homes and move away.
So these Palestinians, and all Arabs, are still pissed.
Can't blame them.

Basicly it comes down to brothers. Jews and Muslems are both sons of Abraham and like brothers they fight.
