all meats are proteins, as are eggs, milk, and other dairy products, though most cheeses are also full of fat. other proteins are beans, which are very healthy...tofu is made of soy beans, and you can get it in different forms as a meat substitute, and nuts.

Most meats have additives, chicken is the one that you generally find the least in. You may want to pick up an older cookbook called "Diet for a Small Planet", and learn how to combine vegetarian ingredients and/ or dairy to make a complete protein. Beans and grains are one such combination. You could have bean burritos, red beans with rice, falafel in pita bread, tofu lo mein, curried garbanzos over cous cous, bean chili and brown rice - the possibilities are endless, and this is only one of several ways to combine vegetable proteins. This is a very healthy way to eat, and you'll have a lot more variety in your meals.

Natural is always better, but some people do not get enough through their diet. Read the nutrition label of any supplement (watch for high levels of sugars, carbohydrates, sodium, and fat).
