i'm not sure but i think he got into a fight. he came home and he's really beat up. he has a scratch under his eye, but what really worries me is that all of his front claws have been ripped out. is there anything i can do for him (besides taking him to the vet)? i can tell he just isn't feeling well since he hasn't groomed himself and he is sleeping more than usual.

Take him to the vet immediately! He's been in a fight (with some animals and fought for his life based on his missing claws) and could have internal damage. He needs medical help as soon as possible. He's sleeping because he's been through an extremely stressful event that also required a lot of physical stamina, but he also might be bleeding internally, might have damaged bones and muscles and puncture wounds you can't see. He won't groom himself until he feels better (and if he's hurting he won't be able to do the bending and stretching grooming requires). Right now, just keep him warm and comfortable, put some water closeby because he may not eat but he'll need water and just leave him alone to sleep--and take him to the vet, please.

You may want to take him in and get him checked. The most common problem after a cat fight that requires a vet's attention is the abscesses which form in the punctures from bites. I have had cats that were really beaten up. One lost an eye! Has he been checked for Feline Leukemia? Do it if he hasn't and get the vaccination. Make sure he's neutered, too, if he' not. Wait until he's feeling better

Were all his claws ripped out due to you de-clawing him? If so, shame on you and keep that poor cat indoors!!!! That will solve your problem. If the claws were ripped out when he came home, I wouldn't call it an animal fight, I would call it animal abuse, and consider contacting the right authorities to let your neighborhood be aware that some one is abusing the animals outside.
But seriously, if you declawed your cat and are letting him live outside, your handing a death sentence. If you can't keep him indoors, find him a new home.

This is very shocking and I agree with the poster who mentioned animal abusive. Please take your cat immediately to the vet, if necessary on the weekend to an emergency vet. Please consider that your cat must be in a lot of pain, considering his injuries. All the best!

Sounds like he needs to see a vet, he may get infections in his paws, or have other injuries you do not see.. good luck..

The vet is the important thing, that and keeping him warm and safe. Please, please turn him into an indoor kitty. Even if there's no permanent damage THIS time, there's no guarantee that next time he's going to be able to drag himself home.
