I think you have to be old enough to be able to take care of the contacts. I know a kid that started wearing contacts when he was 10. Contacts take a lot of care. Most eye care professional say 12 is the right age to get them.

I first got mine when I was 13.....let's just put it this way...I have been wearing contacts for a LONG TIME.
Most doctors will recommend that people wait until they are about 13 or 14..simply because hygiene is becoming a lot better for people at that age. The health of the eye is very important and contacts if not used and taken care of properly can cause long term damage to the eye.
Wearing contacts is really more about discipline rather than vanity....and the majority of young kids are not real good at practicing personal discipline. I won't say that is 100% true...but probably more like 98% true.

Usually you have to wear glasses for about a year, but the age factor isn't that big, but obviously has to be reasonable

as long as you have parent permission and are mature enough to put them in, take them out, and not lose or damage them, age doesnt really matter. i got mine when i was about 11.

The bottom line is when you are responsible enough to care for them, and your eyes properly.

You don't have to be any age. You just need a parent. I got mine when I turned eleven.
