So many people don't put the blame where it belongs. Illegal Immigrants are under the impression that when they cross the border, they'll find the land of perfection and live happily ever after. When in actuality that's not true. They can't really do anything here, being illegal. I don't condone illegal immigration, but I don't think the blame of it should be placed on the immigrants. I'd direct it in two other places..

1. The government's weak stances on immigration. As well as the neocon's stance on it to completely shut off immigration. Neither one of these things are right, or work.

2. The employers here who hire people they KNOW are illegals, just so they can get their work done at a fraction of the price. I think those people are more guilty of breaking the law than any illegal immigrant.

States that don't have a high percentage of illegals somehow manage to get things taken care of that "Americans won't do."

Americans and legal immigrants will do any job where the pay matches the job. Market forces and labor laws assure that.

Unscrupulous employers will always attempt to under pay market wages, knowing that their illegal indentured servants are in no position to protest, without risking discovery and deportation.

How is this a good thing for anybody?

How are they better off? They don't get an tax dollars from illegals. So it's not like the state is making money off of them. Sales tax? Don't matter who you are you pay sales tax. So how do you figure. They would be in mucher better shape if they were legal because then the would have that income tax income. Outside of florida which doesn't have a state income tax. So let's not even put Florida in the mix.

How are the benefitting?

In most surveys its agreed that illegals are more of a drain on the economy. Some may pay taxes. But they certainly have health needs, insurance needs, housing needs, welfare needs, and such. There are schools that can't get funding for kids that suddenly appear on their doorsteps without paperwork. They require a classroom, a bi-lingual teacher, tutoring, books, shots, and stuff.

So when you talk about contributing, what they take is more than what they contribute.

In the short term they may well be. But in the long term they will not be. It cost a lot of money to provide just basic care to illegals include schools, translators in the end it is not cheap nor do they benefit in the long haul

I think that employers of illegal aliens (cheap Labor) are the one benefiting. Illegal aliens are draining the economy, people have to admit that they are costing more than we are gaining from them.

Your statement is incorrect. States with a high number of illegal
aliens are not better off. Besides, what part of illegal don't you understand, they entered our country illegally and are not entitled to jobs, welfare, or free medical treatment.

From the L.A. Times

1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County ( L.A. County has 10.2 million people)

are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are

predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien

Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers

are Mexican nationals here illegally.

10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English.

3.9 million speak Spanish.

(There are 10.2 million people in L.A. County).

(All the above data from the Los Angeles Times)

******

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops,

but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70% of the United States' annual population growth

(and over 90% of California , Florida , and New York )

results from immigration.

The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was,

(after subtracting taxes immigrants pay), a NET $70 BILLION/

year, [Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University ]. The lifetime

fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average

adult Mexican immigrant is a NEGATIVE number.

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

If they can come to this country to raise Hell and demonstrate by

the thousands, WHY can't they take charge over the corruption

in their own country?

We are a bunch of fools for letting this continue.
