Now I understand, athiests don't believe there is a God or A devil. I know that satanic worshippers believe there is a God but they worship satan as do christians believe there is a devil yet worship God. So I apologize for my ignorance. Thank you for the information I needed in order to understand. Being athiest has nothing to do with it either way.

Oh, no problem. :) That sounds correct to me, although as an aside, I think there are "Satanists" who claim that Satan doesn't exist. Which confuses me as well.

Actually, from what I have always been taught, Satanism has NOTHING to do with belief in God, and EVERYTHING to do with Atheism. Satanism is Atheism taken to an obnoxious extreme, not merely content to deny the existence of God, but hellbent on spitting on the beliefs of the faithful. Satan is a metaphor, a symbol, not a being, but rather a banner of rebellion to rally behind as well as get under the skin of those who place a more literal meaning behind him.
At least, that's what I have been lead to believe about the Church of Satanism.

Satanists don't exactly have councils to synchronize their theology. I understand there are atheistic Satanists who believe in neither a god nor a devil. They use diabilocal symbols and rituals in a cynical way to show contempt for theism but don't believe they are actually doing anything supernatural. They probably regard the "fervent" Satanists as childish nihilists.
