Just curious...What makes other people so drawn to the ones that are already taken? I know I can't be the only person that has noticed this....

Its a natural instinct for some pple. People are drawn to the challenge and the thrill of chasing after someone elses man or woman. You know they are taken but you want to see how far you can get in or how close you can get to them actually wanting you back. Most pple stop b4 it gets to out of hand but some just keep on going until they get what they want if only for 1 night.

People say it's human nature. I personally believe we are genetically compelled to challenge ourselves for the sake of survival and positioning. I think this survival instinct has to do with two things: improving ourselves by changing ourselves (a survival skill) thereby positioning ourselves for the best case scenario of personal survival and that of our offspring, and complementing ourselves genetically for the same reason.

In other words, trying to woo someone who doesn't give a flip is not only a test of your personal adaptability, should you should combine with that person, your genetic and learned-skill complement ensures the survival of your offspring. Conversely, if you settle for a schmuck, you don't improve the chances of survival of your offspring. This is why some folks want to select the genetically superior sperm at a sperm bank, but that's cheating :)

But what do I know. I'm hailing from schmuckville :)

Because we are stupid when our hormones kick in. Hormones on, brain off. And we always like a challenge. Not that it is good for us, but that is what we like. Lastly, we are not really sure if we totally want the unavailable person so we feel safe to go after them (we don't have to worry about being stuck with a POS if they are already someone else's POS).

Make sure the other person is taken before making this assumption... I have been told many times that women thought I "had to be married or gay" So they never even tried

True, and it's about the primal urge to have everything and be the best, we also want what someone else has, especially if that thing or person makes them happy. Crazy we are!

My counselor and i discussed this very question a few weeks ago. I came to the conclusion that i wanted someone i couldn't have because it was safe and that i was afraid of being rejected by someone who was available.

I think this happens at subcouncious level... without realizing, people tend to me more attracted to what they cant have, because it makes them feel more "stronger" if they get it... but we all know that after losing what we had once, we realize how important it was... i think it's all about perception...

I don't know, really cute guys, it's really hard to get with them and keep hem kept because the want a girl who shows skin and acts nasty. They are just so cute they have girls asking to go with them, then they turn you down from something nastier, but to them, better. I don't know, I just know whats it's like, it hurts REALLY bad.
