A low sperm count is still a sperm count - it only takes one sperm to get to the egg for fertilization.
The absolute guarantee for not getting pregnant is don't have sex. Since abstaining is the boring option, the next best option is to use birth control. Use the "if it's not on, it's NOT happening" method and he'll tow the line (ie, wear a condom) or piss off - both options that work out for you.
IF you want to take the 'bareback' option, then you have to take control of your fertility - see a medico and talk about your options. Still, make him wear a condom anyways as a back-up to whatever method you choose. Trust me - a few moments of fumbling is way better than rearranging your life for the next 20 years...

Even though he has a low sperm count, there is still a chance of you getting pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant, I'd say definately use protection.

Preventing pregnancy is only one of many reasons to use a condom. When you have sexual intercourse with someone, you're having sex with everyone they've ever had sex with. Lots of things get transmitted during the act of sex, not just sperm. Sure you may spoil the mood, but the mood is transitory, the other stuff can stick with you the rest of your life. Have him use the condom.

Unless you are ready for a baby and ALL the resposibilities that come with it, then always use a condom. Even if he says he's infertile. Some really are infertile. Some say that to trick you.

Yeah you should still use a condom. I had this guy tell me he was sterile. He moved into my neighbor hood 10 years later with a wife and two kids that looked like he spit them out. Not only that, but there are diseases.

Hell yes. It only takes one smart swimmer to change your entire future. Also pregnancy isnt the only outcome of the exchange of bodily fluids.
If you are not married and permanently connected and wanting kids. Wear a raincoat!
