I'm an engineering student in NYC and never heard of this software.

NISA is pretty huge in the engineering software field but most of your questions can't be answered. It's been in use for 30+ years (according to their site) but other than that I can't tell you much. You're not going to ever find out how many people know about the software - if you contact the company they might tell you how many licenses they've sold or something to that effect but I doubt it. As far as lectures or presentations, you'll never find that either.
