Well the biggest difference is they all live in Utah, they have lots of wives, and Mormon girls don't wear underpants.

Best advice anyone could give is to stay away until you are informed. You will find Mormons to be some of the "nicest" people you have ever met. Their family orientation is inspiring, but don't be duped. These are generally good people who have been misled. They believe that Jesus came, later than the New Testament, to teach some lost tribe of Isreal. They go against the diety of Jesus and the Holy Trinity doctrine. They have a number of false teachings that directly contradict Christianity. They might use a lot of the same words and phrases that we do, but they don't mean the same thing at all. You will find their doctrine a twisted misleading package that looks a lot like the truth, but it is just a shell.
A good proof that may give you peace of mind that they are so far off base and that Joseph Smith was a liar are all the facts that contradict the Book of Mormon. Archeologists can find eveidence for almost every place and people of the Bible that you can think of, but try to find any archeological evidence of any tribe or place ever even mentioned in the book of Mormon. You can't because they don't exist. Now keep in mind all of this supposedly happened later than the historical Bible. You should also know that their claim of the "lost tribe of Isreal" moving to North America could have easily been confirmed by DNA evidence. So that's just what they tried to do. Nearly every trace of Native American tribe was tested for specific DNA that all Jews have. Guess what, not a hint of evidence to support their claims in the least. They traced origins to several other countries, but not Isreal or the middle east at all.
The Book of Mormon also speaks of battles with horses and weapons. The weapons had not been invented yet and the horses were not introduced to North America until Spain brought some over a few hundred years ago.
It's hard to believe that anyone could stare all that evidence right in the face and persist that it is not false. You could try that with the Bible, but you and I both know that the Bible has been proved accurate over and oaver again.

Mormonism was founded by Joseph Smith in the early 1800's. He claimed to have found some gold tablets and was visited by Jesus Christ and a couple of angels. He was told that all other religions are wrong. He died when the jail he was been held in was attacked. The religion today has all the bearings of a cult - founded by a man, who rewrote scriptures (the Bible tells us that no word should ever be changed), and added a few new ones. He claims Christ visited the Americas and preached to huge civilisations (of course there is no record of these any more because according to him they were all obliterated in a series of storms, earthquakes etc.) They believe the gods mate with each other and come to earth and that we can one day become gods and return to one of three celestial heavens (depending on how good we were here). He reinterpreted the creation story to show that Lucifer and Jesus are brothers and that sin was designed by God for man's good! A very good book is "My Escape from Mormonism" (author unknown) and there is an organisation in the US which supports ex-Mormons. Want to know much more - speak to them. It is frightening to see the hold that the "church" has over its people. I believe that the individuals within the church are well meaning but that the guys at the top (many respected leaders in politics and science and finance- all reaping huge financial benefit) are corrupt and misguided. There is enough evidence to refute every claim made by Joseph Smith and this is never told to new recruits. For example. He says that the gold tablets were written in an ancient language and his translation was confirmed by a university professor. Not only did this language never exist, the profesor in question denies any involvement whatsoever! Many of Joseph Smith's allies left the church soon after its beginnings or were excommunicated for disagreeing with him. Read any respected book on cults and you will find Mormonism (also called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) listed and exposed therein.

Sorry, if you notice how inconsistent other are at describing this church, then it's obvious they don't know enough to explain it. try going to the source as to what the beliefs are. I will clarify a few things previously said.
The book of Mormon is a writing of prophets (much like the Bible) from the America Continent, starting with a prophet fleeing Jerusalem just before it's destruction (scattering of the tribes) and ending up crossing the seas arriving in what we know as South America. Before Jesus' ascension (after his resurrection), he talked about "other sheep which are not of this fold" in which he needed to visit. AFTER his ascension, Jesus did visit the people on the American Continent.
Baptism for the dead is performed just for the question, “What if someone dies before being baptized?” After all, the Bible does say you have to be baptized to enter the kingdom of God. Those that have died are given the chance to accept baptism through us, in the afterlife. No-one is forced to be a member, and no the millions of members that the church has doesn’t include the dead.
How's this for "proof", many ancient wall paintings and descriptions of the main God Quetzalcoatl show him as white, not dark skinned. And when Cortez found the Aztecs they thought he was God retuning as promised from his last visit. How would they know of a "White God" if they never saw one? Also, one theory of how the Native Americans arrived in America is via the Bearing straight. But, why are the ancient artifacts older the farther south?
Not to bash, but it’s funny, on these boards they say faith is all they need, yet they ask for proof when it comes to legitimate religions as this. And sorry I can't really say any differences between Lutherans, I don't know them as much, so I'm not about to guess.
If you have any more questions ask a member. After all, I'm not going to ask a Baptist or Catholic what Lutherans believe in. Good luck.

The things you will find the most different are:
A lost tribe of Israel came over to South America on a raft. When Jesus was dead for 3 days, he was really in the Americas visiting this tribe. (The angel "Moroni" heralded his visit, which is where they get the nickname "mormons.")
They believe that god has heavenly wives which he has spiritual intercourse with. They make spirit babies which need a home on earth. This is why they have large families. I believe the planet is called "Kolob." They feel VERY uncomfortable talking about this bit until you've been in the church a while.
We can evolve to gods. Jos Smith, their founder, said "As man is, god was - as god is, man may become."

Mormons have good family values, don't believe in using drugs like caffeine, but are major stock holders of either Coke or Pepsi, also they can't drink coffee. watch out coffee drinkers. Lots of mystery in the church with baptizing for the dead and such stuff. They have a living Prophet, and group of 70 High ranking Holy men, probably a group of 12 apostles, but not sure on that one? Send out them guys with bicycles and white shirts and ties two by two. And this is some kind of pilgrimage for God like Muslims do. The leader was Joseph Smith and was killed by good Methodist. The whole group was almost thrown out of America because they believed in polygamy. But the original believe was the Indians were the lost tribe of Israel come to the Americas before the rest of Israel was cursed? and their books are a history around 600 AD of their church written by Joseph as told by an angel. Now Indians are better than the rest of us and blacks are consider worst than the rest of us by them, but they probably changed this doctrine by now? They study Genealogies to baptize for your dead relatives into their church, very strange stuff. Now your church isn't really too much different than Catholics today, except you follow teachings of Martin Luther, a man from Germany who broke away from the Catholic church because he didn't believe many of their doctrines and Dogmas. But they have become more and more like the mother church over the years

July twenty fourth is Pioneer day in Utah. We worship in church homes. There are numerous key innovations commencing with faith interior the Lord Jesus Christ. Our scriptures contain the Holy Bible, the e book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of super cost. We beleive in God the eternal father, and in his son Jesus Christ, and interior the Holy Ghost. Joseph Smith replaced into referred to as of God to repair the church of Jesus Christ to the Earth in education for his return. no longer all of us has been happy with that plan.

Mormans
The "Journal of Discoveries", Vol. 11 pg 40, says, "If our Father and god should be disposed to walk through these aisles, we should not know Him from one of the congregation. You would see a man and that is all you would know about Him." The Bible says, "God is Spirit" [John 4:24] not a common man.
"The Seer" by Orson Pratt, pg 172, also states that God the Father had many wives. The Word of God the Bible doesn't say anything of the sort. "The Pearl of Great Price" [Abr.3:9,16] states that God the Father is now on a planet near the star Kolob, with His wives having spiritual children. But the Word of God, the Bible says, "Our Father which art in Heaven" [Matthew 6:9].
The Mormon church also teaches that it was revealed to their prophet, Pres. Kimball that Satan and Jesus are spirit brothers [Ensign Mag. Dec.1980, pg. 5]. The Bible says that Jesus is God, the Creator of everything in Heaven and earth, including Satan [Colossians 1:16-18].
The Mormon church teaches that there was a war in Heaven because both Jesus and Lucifer approached a "council of gods" with their plans of salvation.
Lucifer's plan was to force the people to worship God. Jesus' plan was to show the people how to worship God. Lucifer's plan was rejected and Jesus' plan was accepted.
Lucifer then rebelled with a third of the spirits and was defeated and thrown out of Heaven. They became the demons of this planet. Of the other two thirds; one was faithful to Jesus and fought valiantly, they became the "white" spirit children of god. The last third of the spirits didn't fight as well and held back to see who was going to win, these became the "black" spirit children of god.
The Bible says, "I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no god besides me" [Isaiah 45:5]. It also says, "He [Jesus] was in the world, and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not" [John 1:10]. And again it says, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no man come unto the Father but by Me" [John 14:6]. And, "For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ" [1 Timothy 2:5].
"The Articles of Faith" by James Talmage, pg. 430 tells us that Mormons are men that can become gods if they are good enough and receive a planet of their own. "Mormon Doctrine" pg. 698 and "Pearl of Great Price" [Abr. 3:22-28] tells Mormons to have large families because the spirit children in heaven need tabernacles. The "Journal of Discourses" teaches that Jesus had many wives and that Jesus couldn't become God unless He was married [Mormon Doctrine pgs. 117-118].
Christ Jesus is the same today, yesterday, tomorrow, and forever [Hebrews 13:8]. Jesus has always been God [John 1:13 & Revelation 1:8].
Joseph Smith was arrested for occult practices in 1826 and was known to carry a talisman of Jupiter. Jupiter is another name for the sun god Tammuz [Comprehensive History of the Church, pgs. 26-27 and Early Mormonism and Magic, pgs. 66-73].
Joseph Smith and his brother Hyram were both Masons. Smith jumped from first degree to sublime degree in one day. This is why these symbols are seen on the Mormon Temple walls and the undergarments of those who have gone through the temple. The Mormons going through the temple also learn the secret handshakes, blood oaths, and the secret names that they need to get into heaven [History of the Church, Vol. 4, pgs. 551-552 and Whited Sepulchers by Schnoebler & Spencer].
God says "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame to speak of those things which are done in secret." [Ephesians 5:11-12; also see Deuteronomy 13:1-10]
Mormonism is nothing more than modern day Baal worship. It is a mixture of Babylonian and Kabalic Jewish religions, Masonry, and Catholic traditions. They claim apostolic authority just like the Vatican. They even have twelve apostles in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mormonism is the daughter of the mother of abominations [Revelation 17:5].
Joseph Smith said that anyone who teaches contrary to the "Book of Mormons" is a false prophet. This makes their own prophets false. The "Articles of Faith" says that God was once man who became one of many gods. The "Book of Mormon" says there is one god and he is unchanging [Times and Seasons Vol. 5, pg.490 and Morm. 9:9-11 and Alma 11:26-31].
Mormons have been betrayed by their own false prophets. God in the Bible says, "But there were false prophets also among the people, even by these by these shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in abominable heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them [with His blood on the cross] and bring themselves swift destruction [2 Peter 2:1; 2 Corinthians 11:13-14].
The Word of God, the Bible tells us that::
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners; Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
Nobody else can save you. You must trust Jesus as your Savior, it is through Jesus that one enters into Heaven. Don't let yourself be deceived, there is only one way to Heaven.
1. Admit you are a sinner.
2. Be willing to turn from sin [repent].
3. Believe that Jesus died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Savior.
How do I pray, preacher? Here is an example:
Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I invite Christ into my heart and life as my personal Savior.
Don't miss out on Heaven for man's sake. You will have to spend eternity in Heaven or Hell. It's up to you.
