I'm looking into some kind of photo editing program with some substance. I've never used any of the 'pro' ones, but I'm getting into making a lot of icons and such with my personal pictures. I was wondering if Paint Shop Pro was hard to use, or if anyone has suggestions for something better for me to start out with.

Paint Shop Pro is fine, but my personal favorite has always been Adobe Photoshop. It's not too hard to learn but if that's your worry there's more Adobe Photoshop guides and books out there than any other photo editing program.
You can purchase the Photoshop Elements package which usually sells for under $100 since you're not using it for too many things, and it's much cheaper than the pro version which is several hundred dollars.
Once you learn Photoshop, you can pretty much do any other photo program.
If you want to get started for free, GIMP is a very good free program (no strings attached).

Paint.Net is the best pro grade photo editor and it's free. It's a join project by some college and Microsoft.
But nothing beats Photoshop, I've been using it for 10yrs.

Screen Dash. Its the only photo editor that can take screenshots, do paint and photo editing, and host images. Thus, you can share images with your friends and family. Its free, easy to use, and provides very professional photo editing.

I think Picasa is a good start to get familier ..then u cud move to adobe photoshop

I would personally recommend getting stuck into something like GIMP as it is completely free. If you like what you see, you may like to investigate purchasing Adobe Photoshop.
