I always look at magnum's site and wonder how they setup the camera. Can anyone tell me what you notice apparent with this photos ie contrast,white balance,iso,etc etc etc Also if you feel there is any apparent filter being used. I know with black and white there are some filters but unfamilar with what they do so if you think there is an apparent filter being used, can you please explain how it may work.

What an impossible question to answer. Magnum is one of the greatest photo agencies, to which some of the greatest photographers of the 20th and 21st centuries have/do belong(ed). They will all use different techniques etc., depending on the type of photograph they are taking.

If you had specific pictures in mind I might be able to help you figure it out.

One good thing National Geographic's website is that you can see information about how many of the pictures were taken.
