I am a college senior and my girlfriend and I have been going out for almost two year, and I love her, but I can't stand talking on the phone for more than five minutes. I can talk to somebody (especially my girlfriend) for longer periods of time if it is up front, but I always found talking on the phone boring and impersonal, but my girlfriend loves it. I asked her before but I don't know if she forgets or just ignors what I say, but I don't think things that aren't important discussions need to be talked about for 15 minutes. What do you think I should do?

I would tell her again that you don't enjoy talking on the phone. I think that some girls just don't understand how someone could not like talking on the phone, and lots of guys seem to feel that way.
Men and women think and communicate differently, and this is one of the manifestations of that.
Women also tend to use about four times as many words in a day as a man. You could explain that to her as well...then when the phone conversation has gone on as long as you can take you say..."I'm sorry, I've run out of words for the day and have to go!"
That way you can make your point and to signal that your're ready to sign off in a way that's funny instead of worrying about being rude.

I'm just like that, I can take maybe 5 to 15 minutes max on the phone and I need to move on and do something else. Unfortunately, a friend of mine is a constant yakker and will do it for two hours at a time - highly annoying! Just tell her you're not a phone person - I just keep reinforcing that idea and then when my friend finally got a job, she has less time to yak - thankfully!

Some people are just not busy enough and they need classes, hobbies, meetings, or sports!!!! I don't consider the phone a social "life." At least on the net, we can turn it off and walk away at our choosing.

Tell her simply and clearly but respectfully exactly what you stated in your question. The next time she ignores it, remind her, give her a few minutes to wrap up her conversation, then terminate it. If she continues to ignore you, it is a power game on her part. just dont play. I have dealt with the same issue. Ultimately, if you both genuinely care for each other, you will find a ground for meaningful compromise.

Some other time, not while on the phone, somehow casually mention that youre not a phone person and you'd so much rather talk in person, that phones are only for brief chat... If she's smart and therefore worth dating, she should get it.

email &/or text message her...Tell her you have to get back with your studies. No, tell her the truth; you're not a good conversationalist over the phone, you rather speak person-to-person, so you can see her lovely eyes... You find talking over the phone mundane and rather have a live, up front conversation instead...after school, work, extra curricular activities, etc...

you could ask to meet her somewhere so you wouldn't have to talk on the phone
or you could not answer your phone as much or say you have to do something but ask to meet her later
that way maybe slowly she'll stop calling you as much and meet you more in person

Maybe you and her could compromise and chat online instead of on the phone?
