Scientologists aren't christian and their philosophy is totally absurd. It involves space aliens possessing human bodies, extraterrestrial spirit entities and other such nonsense all created by a Science Fiction author to make money off of suckers.
Christian Scientists practice metaphysical christianity. They believe that spirit (God) is more real than the world (matter). In fact, they believe that the world doesn't exist at all as a substantial reality. It sounds pretty crazy but it is somewhat in alignment with classical mystical ideas.
Christian Scientists get a really bad rap because their founder rejected medicine in favor of prayer. Obviously this is an extreme, impractical and dangerous way of looking at things. Aside from this detail much of the CS philosophy is a lot more friendly than fundamentalist Christianity and resembles the thinking of the idealist philosophers Berkeley, Kant, Spinoza and Fichte.

Christian Scientists (the religion, not scientists who happen to be Christian) refuse medical treatment in the belief that God will cure them. Scientologists dont follow God or trust Him for anything, they just believe all health issues and mental issues are an illusion.
