Don't get me wrong, I am anti fundamentalist. My question is, if you are really into fighting these idiots why? Is it something in your background? If you aren't really fired up about going toe to toe with the fundies don't answer.

I take back the word "idiots" in talking about fundamentalists, it is really too strong/negative, sorry. Although they can be very difficult and the temptation to use that kind of language is always there.

I don't think I would say I "battle" christians, but I do discuss things with them and debate.

Why is because I used to be one of them. I was a creationist bible thumper who went to bible college. If patient friends hadn't reasoned with me, I'd still be one. I know what it's like to be one. I know why they hold onto it. I know what "atheism" looks like to them.

I also know what my world view was like as a christian vs an atheist. And I just figure it's "payback" time for all the patient people who reasoned with me.

The Christians are becoming extremist. Chicago and several other cities have been forced to take action. The UK is taking action against some Christian groups. Indeed it could be said that the church in the UK is trying to take over the country and force it to be Christian. Is civil war coming?

I believe we will see a Christian terrorist incident within the next five to ten years.

Do we wait for such a thing or try and get the church to rein in the extremists now.

What gives Christians the right to knock on our doors and refuse to take no for an answer when companies doing so can be prosecuted!

We all need to stand up to our rights to freedom before they are taken away by Christians.

Battles have to start somewhere and it started with the unacceptable behavior of Christians. Therefore those battling the Christians are exercising their right to self defence!!!

The moment Christians stop trying to force their views and learn to behave in a manner more acceptable to a civilized society the quicker they will be left alone!

Actually, I lost a little steam after they got their a**es handed to them in the last election. America finally came to its senses. But basically, I fight them because they think they have the right to dictate to me and everyone how we should live and what are values should be because they read it in some fairy tale about a magic man who lives in the sky.

They try and force their values down everyone's throats by passing them into laws. For example, if liberals had their way, and you got pregnant you wouldn't have to have an abortion. You could if you chose to. But if it conflicting with your value system, you of course could carry the child and give birth. If fundamentalists had their way, and you were 13 and got raped by your step-father you would HAVE to have the baby because that would be the MORAL thing to do.

They are a bunch of hypocritical phonies, and I'll knock them down a peg every chance I get....

Atheists are wrong and they know it deep down. They are trying to battle Christrians to try and convince themselve and any other people who are wanting to not to have to answer to God that they do not have to do so. This way, they can do whatever they please without having to answer to anyone, also they can have less guilt if more Christians turn to atheism.

You know, I'd say that its because those damn fundies piss everybody off, but its the atheists who are on the front lines because they get the most bashing from the Biblefolk.
