Due to mainly Oxygen in the atmosphere. Without the evolution of oxygen, we wouldn't be here in the first place. Scientists believe that billion of years ago the earth is such a harsh place to live, there were poisonous gases in the air. Well, you can consider oxygen as one of the poisonous gases...but only if it is too much for living organisms and depends on which one...

But one thing for sure...if there is no oxygen we would not be here in the first place, and if there is no oxygen now, we would be dead.

Well that goes back to the formation of the planets and everything. But if you look at it from right now, the sun creates the heat to make it warm enough to survive, the sun also helps the plants to create food through photosynthesis, and (plant eating animals) eat those plants for their food. Every cell has hydrogen in it, there is also oxygen, those together create H2O (2 hydrogen, to 1 oxygen) which create a molecule we call water, every cell needs this compound (water) to be able to break down nutrients, and to clean out the waste left over after the nutrients are used.

Plants make a process called photosynthesis where they produce food. Plants will die if they are not given enough sunlight, the right amount of air and water. As for animals, have you heard of food chains and webs? Animals are separated into three kinds.

> omnivorous - eats meat and vegetables
> herbivorous - eats plants only
> carnivorous - eats meat only
Herbivorous animals eat plants to get energy. Imagine a food chain below:-

a herbivorous animal --- an omnivorous animal --- a carnivorous animal

An omnivorous animal eats a herbivorous animal. Follow by, a carnivorous animal(tiger or lion) eats an omnivorous animal.

Animals die when they are old or found out by hunters. They won't live very long. Except for trees(they are able to live for hundred or thousand years)
