This usually occurs when I have a full stomach or I'm bloated. The pain is localized. It occurs around where the rib cage and belly meet, a little right from the esophagus. If I press down on it I can feel it and it subsides. Sometimes a tingly sensation curves over to my back. This is near the middle of the torso, and I know it is not a side stich.
I have already gone to the doctor but they thought it was muscular. They told me to wait a couple of weeks, and see if it stays. I'm thinking of going back but before I would like to know if anyone has any idea what it can be.

When I went, they checked for gallstones with ultrasound. I hope that it's not because I hear they are painful.

It sure sounds like gas, like your stuffing yourself at meals. Try eating less, enough to be comfortable, when you feel like going for "seconds" don't, and after eating, take a little walk around the block.

Well, I had much the same symptoms just last night. But a lot sharper pain. I had to lay in a hot bath on my left side, massaging my torso in that same spot. But I KNOW that I was passing a gall stone! Could your problem be similar?

Addendum: Yes gallstones can be very painful. Of course, it all depends on just how big the particular stone you are passing at that moment IS. The one last night couldn't have been really large because just two doses of pain killer, and the hot bath followed by a couple of hours with the heating pad was all it took to pass it. Last month I passed a stone that left me in excruciating pain for two days. I had to resort to the codeine for that one!
