Can this be inherited from your parents?

Question

Me and my mom have a lot in common, we both:
- like flowers a lot, and coincidentally, tulips are our fav flowers
- scared of heights
- have motion sickness
- allergic to caffene
- like decorating the house
- like peaceful environment
- like peaceful music

can these similarities just be a coincidence or is it inherited?

Some inherited, some Learned.

You are a product of your environment. My mom and I shared; dry sensitive skin, allergies to antibiotics, peonies and music from the 50's & 60's (big band, Dean Martin, Frank, Andy Williams).

If your mother professed her love of the above, especially while you were little, you wanted to please her and so adopted some of her favs as your own. And now after all these years, they are just a part of you. Enjoy the similarities, I really miss my mom.

Allergies & motion sickness are physical and so probably inherited, you should thank her.

Allergic to caffeine and motion sickness definitely are inherited... fear of heights and tendency to fear of heights can be inherited... for the rest, people have different opinions.

If you consider how complex some inherited behaviors are in dogs, like herding behaviors and specific hunting behaviors... And how hard it is to teach these behaviors to dogs that are not bred to do these complex behaviors... Well, it seems to me that if the specifics are not inherited, the capacities or inclinations probably are. People think they are completely different from 'animals'! We are not. Poodles have poodles, retrievers have retrievers and peaceful home decorators often have peaceloving home decorators! :)

When you get down to tulips, it is probably a mixture of inheritence and training, just as a good hunting dog must be taught the particulars of the activity he tends toward.

Can you inherit fears?I on no account knew that.However I inherited kind my mother[that inherited from her dad] some crisis before drowsing..To a couple persons it can take 5-10 minutes and to me normally 15-20.

You inherit certain physical characteristics from your parents, so the allergies and motion sickness could certainly be qualify. Possible even the like of a quiet environment.
But many things we have in common with our parents is simply by environmental influence. You were raised in a certain environment your entire life, it becomes habit to you.

According to my AP Biology textbook and Darwin's theory of evolution, acquired traits are not passed down through generations, but heritable traits are. For example, acquired traits would be something like huge muscles for a bodybuilder, and heritable traits would be something like skin color. A person is influenced as much by the environment they are in as their traits. This means you can have a lot of variation (for ex., you liking the same music your mom likes). So as far as scientists know, those are not things that can be inherited; they may be things you are influenced by. Hope that helps.

I know certain fears (like a fear of heights) can be passed down from parent to child, through their behavior. If your mom keeps screaming, "STAY AWAY FROM THE STOVE!!! YOU'RE GOING TO BURN YOURSELF!!!" every time you wander into the kitchen, you're going to grow up with a fear of being burned on the stove.

And if your mom likes peaceful environments with soft music playing, then you've learnt to associate these things with goodness and things being right in the world.

Motion sickness and the allergies can be passed down genetically. My grandmother and I both have terrible motion sickness.
