I am not Christian, but I would like a few Christian points of view on this one. My husband has been saved and baptised (well, I have too, for that matter). He says that once you have been, you are going to heaven. That God does not take back salvation. Kinda makes a little sense. But, I think, that if there is a heaven that you have to set an example, and live a Christian lifestyle. That you can't just say forgive me, then do whatever you want. How do you believe? Please explain why.

hello, that's not an actual answer, seeing as how you didn't say which part you thought was nonsense.

lookn2cjc, I was saved and babtised as a child of about 10, my lifestyle did change, well, as least as much as it can at 10. I found that I had serious problems with organized religion as I got older, now I am not sure where I stand. Do not act as if you know me or my past, future or present. I try to be polite, and not judge you, offer me the same courtsey, please.

God did not take one's salvation back,, the individual did. Once saved, always saved is a farce and a lie. If that is the case then satan is saved. He was once on God's side.MayGod BLess

You say you're NOT a Christian, then you contradict yourself and say you're SAVED and BAPTIZED. Which is it? Apparently it sounds like the first one! Yes, a TRUE Christian will automatically have a change of lifestyle; Jesus never leaves us in the same sorry condition we were in before we were saved. That's one of the ways to know for SURE if you're truly saved or not. Has there been a change in your life? Do you have a desire to get closer to God through His Word and through Church attendance? Do you want to pray now, where you never did before? These are things that you should answer YES to if you are truly saved.

EDIT:
BTW: Once saved always saved is NOT a lie. God gives us ETERNAL LIFE, and it is IMPOSSIBLE for GOD to lie!

He who endures til the end is talking about the tribulation period. Come on people! Context!!

EDIT:
Sorry, sweetie, but you gave a conflicting report, so naturally I was confused!
I wanted to explain Salvation clearly in case you hadn't heard it before, that's all. I apologize. (The other edits were not to you, btw....)

This is a very hard question. You will get many different answers to.I believe that you are always saved. But real salvation is not as easy as most people think.
You must seek Jesus with your whole heart.Repent with your heart ,knowing that you have given Jesus your heart. You are no longer your own,you now belong to Jesus.I think we still sin and fall short of the Glory of God.But with salvation comes a cleansing that goes into your very soul.It washes you white as snow. You have a new desire to please your savior,no longer yourself. You still may slip and fall. But you hurt for the pain you have caused Jesus.Your desired are so different, you wish above all things to please Jesus.
This is love.
I do not believe you can work to earn your salvation, nor work to keep it,Jesus will keep you.
Not by works of righteousness that I have done ,but according to his mercy he has saved me.
Man fails you,God does not. What good is a God who would send me to hell after a lifetime of serving him, when I made a mistake.
People who say you can lose your salvation, have puffed up the flesh, saying look at me.Look what I can do.
Salvation is a free gift,=yours to keep.

Salvation is a matter of what goes on in one's heart. It is not a ritual that one goes through. It is a daily, constant, relationship and friendship with Jesus Christ. It is not about living the "Christian lifestyle". That would be a heavy burden to bear wouldn't it? And Jesus said his burden is light.

God does not "take back salvation". However if you choose to disobey him you will go to hell.

As far as heaven is concerned, heaven can and should exist on Earth. (Thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven.)

Don't worry about setting an example. The example has already been set by Jesus Christ. Rather, be like a little child.

This depends on which denomination you consult.

1. One belief is that Jesus died for our sins, so everyone on the planet is going to heaven regardless of actions.
2. Another belief is that all you have to do to get to heaven is accept Jesus. Also no requisite actions necessary.
3. The most common belief is that you have to accept Jesus and confess all your sins.
4. Some show no emphasis on Jesus, but a simple worship of God and asking forgiveness for sins.
5. Another belief gives no specific requirement for even believing in God, but that one must only be a good person to get to heaven.

Like I said, it depends on the denomination and often the individual you are asking.

I believe there is a difference between saying you are a christian, and being a christ follower. you see, the bible tells us that when we get to heaven we will be rewared for our good deedes on earth, (and we will lay them at god's feet) but those are just extras. the real determinant is if your life reflects God (if your goal in life is to please god). I believe that if you dont show that is your goal, then you are not living your life for him, and if you are not living your life for god, i dont believe you will be belssed with salvation. also th bible says that we must repent of our sins to be forgiven, i dont believe we can inherit the kingdom of god if our hearts are not truely sorry for our wrong doings.

Now thats not ot say that if you arent the best christian and dont do everythign right you wont go to heaven, I just think that you sould live your life for god and if you do he will bless you with eternal life. the key is loving god. and living for him. that is a christ follower. if you have that, all else will fall into place.

"Once saved always saved" has no scriptural basis. Yes God may take back salvation and He says He will even if someone just removes something from the Book of Prophecy.

Rev 20:15 says: And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Who is written in the book of life? Saved people.. but then it says in Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

So, God can and will remove some from the book of life. We see that it will happen to anyone who removes words, how many other things?

In a way you are right. Being a Christian is walking with God and allowing Him to change us to be more like Him, reflecting His love to other people.

We Christians never get perfect in this change while we are still on earth, but perfection is our goal. Sometimes the growth is small, sometimes big, sometimes we even backslide a litte.

You are right in thinking that just because God continues to love us we cannot purposefully go on in sin. It won't hurt God, but it will hurt us. We can get so ashamed of ourselves that we are embarrassed to even talk to God.
And some people even leave Him believing that they are disualified to be His child.

Rom 6:15-18

15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey-whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

Once you accept Jesus as your personal savior, nothing can remove that. He writes your name down in the Lambs book of life and it can never be erased. He died on the cross so that we could live with Him in heaven for eternety. The thing is, once you are saved, you want to do the right things, and you want to set an example for others. The Lord spirit comes into your heart, and you are filled with joy. You want everyone around you to feel this joy and have the peace that the Lord provides, so you are supposed to make sure that you are living as Jesus would live. We are supposed to be living examples of Jesus Christ himself. I hope this helps, God Bless.

Matthew 7:21-23 says:

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Do you think those people mentioned above have not been baptkzed, or non-Christians? I don't think so. They prophecied in His name, so they must be prophets. They cast out demond in His name, so they could not be unbelievers, because you need a great faith in Jesus to be able to cast out demons in the name of Jesus. And you could not perform many miracles in His name without becoming a Christian in the first place.
In Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus' messages to the people in each of the seven churches was ended with the admonition to be an overcomer to the end, then they were promised salvation.
Then the apostle Paul also said that unless we are faithful to the end there is danger that our reward, or crown of life, will be given to others, while we ourselves after working hard in trying so save others will be lost.

That means we must try very hard to remain faithful to Him until the end of our lives.
