you can actually see a doctor without your parents knowing. there is HIPAA, HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT, and it is patient confidentiality so i think you should go see one, a psychiatrist or psychologist. i wish you luck and get better! scholarships are just money, you can get that working, just keep up your grades, go to a good college, and everything will come back, promise

Been through it. Keep in mind: parents ALWAYS find out. They'll know you lost your scholarship, they'll know your grades fell, they'll find out you're losing your boyfriend. Chances are pretty good that you have nothing to lose by seeking help from your family; if there's another factor for why they shouldn't know, you can find a therapist or support group and set that down as an initial requirement-not to let your parents know about it. DO SOMETHING or you'll end up in an entropic cycle of worsening grades and relations with other people. Look at yourself in two years, five years, ten years-with therapy and without it. With is probably better. Best of luck. (-=

i've been there.
Depression is an illness, much like a bad cold. noone is immune and the only way is to see a doctor. medications can help you get back on track. the paranoia of some sort of stigma regarding the depression is crap. your family or friends should (and often will) be the first to come to your side. if you are feeling depressed, you are your own worst advisor and need to talk to those that you KNOW will support you when you are at your lowest.

if sleep is distrubed, you must start by regulating this. this time of year is really tough because of shorter days.....i suggest getting a full spectrum light, taking walks, LEAN on others and ASK FOR HELP..........

I understand how you feel- I have dealt with so much ****, and have been depressed for as long as I can remember. I'm doing better but I know how hard it is. Medication usually helps, but if you can't tell anyone I guess that won't work. I've always heard things like taking hot baths and stuff help, they have never helped me. Two things that help me is 1, keeping a journal. I write and write when I'm upset, I cry and just keep writing all my feelings out, and believe it or not it makes me feel better. Or talking to someone about how you feel, maybe a parent or a friend. Feel free to email me and just let it all out. I would judge, just listen, and I can always use someone to talk to too :) Lexino2817@yahoo.com. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you, just don't give up hope, no matter how hard!!

If you think your parents don't already know that you are depressed then you are in denial or they are. If you can't go and see a doctor then go to a counselor at school. You can exercise, eat right, have a regular sleep schedule and most importantly talk, talk to friends, talk to your family, talk to your school counselor. You'll make it through this hard time. If you exercise you'll get some happy adrenalins at least for a while that will help you feel better. Don't isolate yourself. Ask a family member to go ice skating or walk in the park. I have depression too, you can make it through this. Hang in there! You're worth the effort to make it through these hard times.

Try St John's Wort. It is a natural positive mood enhancer. You can buy it over the counter and take as directed. Try it for at least a month. If that does not work. See a doctor or a counselor.

Face facts...You are depressed...A doctor will be able to help, and forget you parents not knowing, be an adult! Face the consequences and Your parents will respect you for that! Hiding from them will only cause more problems. Serve others to start helping now, Good Luck.

You really need to see a doctor. I went to mine for insomnia and I'm going to see a counselor for depression too.
Sometimes life just sucks, but remember that you have family and friends who care about you.
I'm a dad and if any of my kids had a problem I would do anything to help them. If it would help I would even die for them. Trust your parents.

Seek therapy. 9 times out of 10 your parents know already. I find that writing down what i feel in a journal help me out greatly, i've had bouts of depression my whole life and talking to someone has helped me out also. I'm currently in therapy and i found an excellent counselor who really listens to what i have to say and gives me excellent input.
