Interesting choice of names. Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Moses never said a word about an "afterlife". It was never mentioned until after the Greeks came by in the 2nd Century BCE. Noah, Abraham and Isaac never "preached" or taught anything. They were just ordinary guys who had interactions with God. Moses was the first to proclaim the Law of Torah. Jesus preached either the fulfillment of the Law or the end of it, depending on how you interpret him. And Mohammed claimed to correct both of them. And Jesus and Mohammed didn't agree on how the afterlife works either.
Some were hassled for their beliefs but the only one who got killed was Jesus. (You don't even mention the prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, Hosea, etc., who apparently preached very fiercely and suffered for it.)
But even if they all agreed and spoke with one voice, it's still opinion. Wasn't it Goebbels who said all it takes to make a truth is to repeat a lie enough times? I much prefer being shown the validity of a religion by the way its adherents behave toward their neighbors. By their fruits ye shall know them, so to speak.

They could have been:
1. Real people who lived, but were just regular people who thought they were special, but had it all wrong. Crazy comes to mind.
2. Based off of real people or a collection of real people, but not actual people themselves. Did you know there were several prophets at the time Jesus supposedly lived, and a few were performing miracles just as big and important as the ones Jesus supposedly performed? It's true. Look it up. One has to wonder why Jesus was picked by the Christians out of all these others.
3. Completely made up as part of an interesting, but completely fictional, story.

to characteristic to the remark of aali for argu. what's extra surprising? To create a guy from earth without father nor mom.(Adam-pbuh that's an instantaneous translation in hebrew) or a guy from the womb of a virgin? Which grow for use as a term to define a youthful woman in those days. not person who has not has her hymen touched. there is not any difference among the prophets because of the fact they have been all equivalent. nevertheless proofs and paths for all selection, what allah commanded them to be is prophets. And to assign none as companions to allah. that's precisely what christians do. this is one component to take a messenger as a chum, instruction manual, chief, helper, and so on. yet to assert they had something to do with introduction on an entire is in simple terms blashpemy. as though they are able to such issues. We as mankind are in simple terms able to the two manifestation(incorrect or right) or to frustrate the majesty of allah. this is one component to be endowed with super awareness and skill. yet there's a difference between being reliable, effective, and omni-effective. PEACE!

Personally, I really don't care who they were.
I don't know enough of Muhammad, except that everyone and their brother in the Middle East seem to be a descendent of him (and thus, wear black headgear), to say whether he existed or not but I have my doubts that Jesus, Abe, Moses, Noah and Isaac ever existed.

I'm more of an agnostic than athiest. But I've always considered them to be kissing cousins to Budha, Krishna, Zues, Zoraster, Oden, Thor, Gai, Pachumama etc.

these were all noble prophets that were commanded by God/Allah to preach the message that He (God ) exists and that people would be punished for denying him and/or refusing to follow his commandments, or they could also be saved by believing in Him. In the Quran, there is plenty of stories of peoples who ignored these prophets' message and were consequently punished completely off this earth, Noah being the most notable. Also in the Quran it explains how people. questioned whether they would be raised after death, which seems like some of the people we have today.

People who, for the most part, had decent morals and were trying to teach people to be good to each other. If not that, then maybe just characters in a book.

Revolutionaries in a cruel time in history. I don't think the question of their existence takes away the importance of their message.
(I don't think I'm an athiest, but I think most people would put me in this category.)

To my misguided friend, we worship God! The one who created the Universe, the one who Abraham prayed to, the one who Noah prayed to, the one who Jesus prayed to, the one who Moses spoke to!
016:123] Then, We have sent the Revelation to you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] saying): "Follow the religion of Ibrâhîm (Abraham) Hanîf (Islâmic Monotheism – to worship none but Allâh) and he was not of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers).
Allah is not different than God except when you say Allah you are saying God in the arabic language. Arabic speaking christians use the world Allah as well...

Well, that is really unknown. Most of those characters have had things associated to them from other gods or prophets of different religious belief. Honestly, I don't know where to draw the line between their fact and their fiction, if they existed at all.
