What is the matter with you? Do you not realize what you are doing? Are you that selfish that you would rather earn money off of breeding mutts on purpose than helping to curb our pet over-population crises? You are NOT creating new breeds...you are just making a profit out of a mutt with a cutesy name. As for doodles, they are NOT hypoallergenic!! All dogs have dander and all dogs shed, even if just a little bit. As the President of a rescue organization, I am here to tell you that you who breed these dogs disgust us and make us sick! You need to stop your selfish, foolish acts!
Are you aware that, on average, 2,009 dogs are euthanized in American shelters every day? And yes, some of those are mixed breeds just like the ones you create!!

How do you live with yourself?
I am appalled, and all need to know the truth behind designer dogs.

Wreckless breeding is irresponsible and heartless.

I agree with you 100%. A mutt is a mutt. It's a fad and when the fad dies in a year or two there will be thousands of these dogs in shelters as they are being portrayed as things that they are not. It's sad.

The same thing occurs in the horse world. People make up breeds. They breed Morgans and Friesans and call them Morisians. It's a half breed any way you look at it.

I do what I can to help with the unwanted animal population. I volunteer at an animal shelter, I foster dogs to help them find a "forever" home, I raise money for rescue organizations, and I am an advocate of spaying and neutering. I cannot help them all but I am sure what I do helps!

I'm not a religious person but I always liked this "prayer":

God give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

It helps me when I get upset over things like this.

Amen, Sister! I actually feel that even purebred breeders and the people who buy them are contributing as well. People fail to realize that purebreeds are in fact created from several different types of dogs with desirable features and are bred until they have a predictable result where the off spring are nearly identical.Even purebreds are mutts. If you really want a purebred dog they have a rescue group for nearly every one out there, instead of paying 500.00 to 2500.00 dollars for a grossly overpriced dog. Instead rescue one for hundreds or thousands less, donate the rest you would have spent had you purchased it from a breeder to an animal shelter, save a dogs life, and stop fueling the fire all at the same time. Besides, I have always felt that most of the smartest, best behaved, and most beautiful dogs I have ever seen are usually your heinz 57 variety mutt. I always get my dogs from a shelter and I always get a mutt. .......... By the way, my answer wasn't directed towards breeders who breed because they have an actual love and appreciation for their breed. It was more directed at the people who breed just to fufill demand or backyard breeders and puppy mills. As for the buyers, it was directed at people who buy these purebreds because the dog is simply cute or popular and they don't do research on the breed they are getting to see if it is really a good match. Many people buy purebreds because they want a "label" like they want labels with so many other things in life. A dog is a pet that needs care and attention and it should not be obtained for the purpose of a having a status symbol. I actually know people who have bought purebreds for this reason only. I am sorry if I offended any one.

I agree thoroughly. i'm high quality with people who had an twist of destiny (although genuinely preventable), and are promoting there blended canines at $50-one hundred in the event that they get them vet checked and their photos. That way they insure the canines might desire to no longer a lab or for bait for canines combating rings. I do besides the shown fact that get sick to my abdomen whilst i'm out and see somebody promoting a poo this or a cocklier, and that they decide for $500 and up for them. i like purebred canines additionally. I oftentimes bypass to a shelter precise now, yet I consistently have an thought of a few purebreds i could be pleased with, and that i wait till i hit upon one. i like purebreds, when you consider which you may study related to the canines, length, characteristics, and different issues. you in basic terms have not have been given any thought what you have become with a mutt. The designer mutt creators at the instant are not interested in something yet a rapid dollar. i think of they breed mutts because of fact they do no longer might desire to pay to sign in them or something then. you in basic terms might desire to arise with a fine looking call, and placed a brilliant discern on it. those canines are placed down common everywhere in the rustic, because of fact maximum folk make an impulse purchase and locate later the canines isn't something like they thought it would be, and then they unload it on the shelter out of impulse and the reality they're to lazy to artwork with their canines. it relatively is in basic terms the way i believe.

I don't have an answer but just want to give you a thumbs up on speaking up. My mind has wondered to this same question more than once reading through the paper and seeing puggles and doodles for sale for higher prices than pure breed puppies. Again thumbs up! More people should speak up to get something done about this!

Thank you thank you for telling it like it is. It kills me what people are doing to my breed and others. I only wish words could translate into actions. Hopeful they will and people won't buy these mutts so people are stuck with them. I hate to wish such a sad fate on these wonderful creatures but if it can keep others from a live of pain and misery, perhaps we can save a special place in heaven for these few.

preach on it, sister...

There are so many dogs that need homes out there...I don't see why people need to buy dogs when they can adopt one from a shelter!

I have a dog whose mother was a pure bred Corgi and whose father was a sneaky neighbor's dog...the breeder was reputable as she sold purbred corgi dogs...she gave my puppy to me and the sib to my Bro-in-law for free as she could and would not, in good conscience, sell the pups! My little dog is part shepherd and corgi and she is the cleverest, most well behaved dog I know...her sib was, too!

We have friends who buy a designer pup every year or so, decide they can't "deal" with the demands of these highly strung dogs and end up sending them to shelters...the idiots who sold them to these fools are laughing all the way to the bank...and the little dogs do not get much of a quality of life! Disgraceful!

makes me sick!

I agree with the question. If you want a mix, go to the shelter and get one that needs a home. I know that in my local shelter they currently have 5 labradoodles, a goldendoodle, and two puggles.

I couldn't agree more.

I'm a groomer, and I want to slap every owner who comes in gushing, "This is my golden-doodle, they're a brand new breed! My breeder says... blah blah blah... my breeder this... my breeder that..."
I work for a corporate owned shop, so I can't say what I'd like to:
"Your 'breeder' is a piece of crap puppy-mill owner who's churning out worthless mongrels with a dumb name and fooling idiots like you into spending money, and I really don't care what the moron has to say. Thanks anyway."

If you want a mutt, more power to you- that's what shelters are for! Designer dogs are a trap for the gullible.

I agree; this is only adding to the over-population problem with pets, but it's not gonna stop any time soon. Supply and demand, you know? All we can do is boycot and hope people care enough to do something about it...

Wow, they make you all sick? Thats sad.. As long as their is a demand, there will be supply and there is NOTHING you can do about it.

And we do not have to take your crap either. I breed cockapoos, been breeding dogs for 25 years. While I do not agree with all the "designer" mixes, I would never put people down and say cruel things to them.

I breed ONLY cockapoos as we ARE working to make them a breed, and we DO have a breed club, one of the first things that has to be done to make a breed recognizable is to start a true club with breed standards.

There are MANY purebred breeders out there that have deplorable breeding and living conditions for their dogs, why not go after them instead of having a tantrum?!

Also, the cockapoo is NOT a designer breed, they have been purposely bred since the early 60's.

EVERY single purebred, is a mix.. Most dogs put down in shelters are large purebred dogs..Go look that up.. I have done rescue for over 25 years. If I am to breed than I am obligated to also help dogs in need...
