If you stretch the right way, and when your ears feel ready to be stretched, it shouldn't hurt too bad, but it also depends what size you want your ears to be at, everything from a 16gauge to around a 4gauge doesn't hurt, at least it didn't when I was at those sizes. But it's mostly just a burning sensation, never really huurts, also another thing, I'll warn you, it's addicting xD good luck !

i have looked into it myslef. i will tell you fromw aht ive learned and give you some sites you can look at to help you. you soudl buy a set of tapers online at www.steelnavel.com. and buy the appropriate sized jewelry. when you use the tapers. and insert the jewelry you soudl wait a month till it is healed. stretcing your ears causes small tears. so yes there is some pain to it. i put in a 16g jewlery from an 18 and yes they were sore for a few days. but thats as far as i went so far though lol.... it will be expensive. and sometimes your ears wil not go back to their normal size. so this can be a somewhat permanent thing, thats why im still thinking about it. there are risk. called a blow out. and causing trama to your ear. weights are NOT reccomended. here is a useful site to help you. it helped me!

besides doing it yourself. for quicker results you can always go to the professionals where you can go up two sizes in one visit rather than going up one size then waiting a month for it to heal then going up another size and waiting another month. you will need to keep it clean to! its sorta liek a new piercing!
what size are you planning on going up to?? im thinking about a 12 or a 10
www.steelnavel has many plugs for the smaller of the stretched ears =) and bodyartforms.com too!
good luck!
but when i put the 16g jewelry in it just brned and was saore for a few days. there is some pain...thopugh

It hurts a little. But if you take it slow it's not a big deal, just make sure you let it heal before you go up a size. It's kind of expensive, too so that's something to keep in mind. I really like the experience, hopefully you'll like it too. Have fun with it and good luck!
Oh yeah, and all those people saying you'll regret it later in life and that you won't get a job? Bunch of bullshit. I've got a job, and I know for a fact that they shrink back to normal. Well by normal I don't mean tiny, but they will go back to where it just looks like a normal ear ring hole.

I know this isn't answering your question, but don't do it! As others have already said you will regret this in life! It is very painful I have heard and it's unattractive! The only way to undo stretched lobes is to get very expensive plastic surgery. Be happy with what you've got!

I'm gauging mine, and it doesn't hurt at all. To minimize the pain, gradually stretch it, don't go from like a 16G to lets say, a 12G, it will hurt much more, and will probably bleed.
Trust me, I learned this from experience haha.

when done right, the stretching process should not hurt. you should feel a slight pressure but not a hurt.
