I've had a salad made up of green leafy lettuce, sliced strawberries, thick chunks of bacon and ranch dressing and it was DEVINE! I've never tried a salad with bananas.

Lettuce and Banana Salad

According to one of my cookbooks, this is a typically German way to dress a salad. One of my aunts said my grandmother made something like this during the Depression (1930s).

Prepare any lettuce in the usual manner and add sliced banana. Dress with a sprinkling of sugar, a little salt and pepper, and either sweet or sour cream. Dairy sour cream, which is thick, must be diluted with lemon juice to the thickness of heavy cream.

you can if you want, i think it should taste okay, but it really depends on what your preferences are.

i like sicilian chicken salad with mangoes and grapes and a sprinkling of pine nuts.

if you're going for a more "fruit" salad versus like a dinner salad, one dressing you can try is balsamic vinagrette on the strawberries and bananas.

food is all about having fun and having a good meal, if it tastes good to you, then go for it. = )

you can always add plain yogurt (or any type of yogurt) and you will see how the salad changes and with the yogurt your salad has a new sence of taste.
