After moving into a new house my dog started getting spots on her belly. She is an indoor puppy. I had her fixed about 4 weeks ago and had the vet look at them since there seemed to be more and she was loosing hair. The doctor gave me a lime sulfer dip and said it will dissappear. It has been 4 weeks and it isn't getting any better! Is there something I can do to my house or to my puppy to get rid of ringworm??

try a bleach and water solution this has worked for me as clorox kills just about everything from germs to fungus. I gurantee if it is ring woorm it will work. Put this on three times a day and continue even a week after symptoms disappear.

Everyone is correct about the fungus creams. Anything for athelete's foot will work for you. Although I hit my vet up for some cream also.

However, ringworm is highly contagious. You and any other pets you may have can get it. If you have children be especially pushy about hand washing. Also, bleach all blankets used for the puppy. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I know people who have rid their pet of it in days but then suffered the wrath of ringworm throughout the rest of the household, inlcuding people. Be very cautious about other people's pets too. When our dog had it we steered clear of visiting friends and family with pets so as not ot spread it. We got lucky (either that or it was my insane claening 24/7) and only our new shelter dog had it, it didn't spread throughout our household.

Good luck and don't take ringworm lightly! Very contagious!

Okay, ringworm is a constantly growing fungus, so it can be cured by using most anti-fungal creams that are sold at pharmacies. you apply them directly to the affected area, and it should go away. Same goes for you yourself if you happen to catch the ringworm. If you didnt get it, it may not be ringwworm, because ringworm is highly contagious and if you have a lot of contact with your dog and your dog has ringworm, you should get it,but not that that is a good thing. You should check where she sleeps for some sign of fungus, because it is on her belly, and its a new house, it could have originated where she sleeps. Good luck with ur dog and i hope she gets better soon

There maybe a shot or cream that you can put directly on the areas in question. I remember a friend of mine had a cat that had ringworm and she got something from the vet that cured it really fast. Unfortunately she also got it and so did her daughter and that took a while for them to get rid of it.
Good Luck!~

go to your local pharmacy and check the " foot " section.

any of the athlete's foot fungus medications will work. Check out " Tinactin "...it comes in a can......says right on the can that it treats ringworm.

wipe each area with a cotton ball dipped in peroxide, then gently pat dry with tissues or paper towel ( so you can throw them away ) then apply the tinactin.

you must be diligent...and wash your hands after all contact....ringworm can be passed to you from your pet....it is not fun......and it takes weeks before the crusty rash heals and longer than that for the hair to grow back in these patches.

THere's medicine at Wal*Mart for it. Go to the pet's section, and there..."Ringworm medicine." Buy the 5 bucks thing, and follow the instructions. In less than 2 days, it'll be cool!
