We had a bare foot beach wedding, it was just beautiful.

My family is Russian & my grandparents are no longer alive so i i wanted to somehow incorporate my heritage into our day. When the bride & groom arrive at the reception it is custom that they have a shot of vodka with everyone. Then the brides parents perform a little ceremony with bride & groom.

we broke bread & ate a bit - so we never go hungry
had lollies thrown on us - so our love is always sweet
money thrown on us - so we are never poor
salt thrown on us - so we never argue
& the all had a shot of vodka for prosperity!

It was so lovely & everyone thought it was really interesting & fun!

My brother's wedding wasn't exactly "traditional". They had it outdoors at a park. The ceremony was held in a gazebo with seating underneath a tent next to it. It was very casual. The men, including my brother wore neutral colored linen pants and shirts. Us girls wore baby blue linen dresses from Banana Republic and the bride wore a simple white dress she got at J.C. Penny. They made their own rings in a jewelry making class before the wedding. The reception was at the park also. There was a buffet style dinner with seating underneath a pavilion. He also had a live band play and set up stuff like volley ball and horseshoes to play. It wasn't a matter of money because both her family and mine are well-to-do, that's just how they wanted it.
