I don't think it is the buildings or the like minded individuals congregating. I think the problem is any church doctrine that makes it the duty of it's followers to convert others. I would rather we adopt a don't ask / don't tell policy in the world at large over not just religious issues, but over everything that really belongs in the Private Sphere. Let's put together a set of customs that honors and respects people's privacy and minimizes sides being drawn in that respect. Religion belongs in the homes, hearts and temples of the faithful and no where else really - maybe open forums for discussion by consenting adults, but it would have to be private among the participants.
Peace!

How can you force a building to leave you country?
You are advocating a one world religion, shame on you, you must put that snake back into Pandora's box where you found it. What you suggest has been done before, it was called the Dark Ages. The Catholic church was in control at the time. Them kill 10's of Millions of Gods people, because Gods people did not join with the pagans like the Catholics did, so for 1260 years the Catholics butchered them. But God still has a people.

No churches should not be banished and I know the church that I go to is a meeting place not a place to separate ourselves. My church and any church I have ever went to, always invite people to come and hear the word. Also in my church, we hold food drives and serve people even if they are not a part of church. We try to include people not separate from people.

People go to those certain places so they can be with other people who say they think like them. Once the leave the building all bets are off and they pretty much behave like every other person. They go there so they can tell each other how special they are because they aren't like the "other" people. It isn't very nice, but people have done that with religions. It's not just baptist, catholic, jewish, it's even into those who have taken on wicca and new age philosophies. It's their need to feel special and set apart from the rest of society.

Churches don't cause problems, the people of the church do. I don't think so because there are those of us who still love God truly and would like a place to go to worship Him. It is up to each individual what they do. Banishing churches would not stop the madness. May God Bless

In short no. Historically people have always felt the need for a higher power to handle events out of their control. What we SHOULD do is advocate people finding their own path and spirituality.
Sadly, that will probably never happen because someone out there always wants to control others...and making people believe that your word is as good as God's, gives abusive church leaders the power they crave.

No. Would you banish all sports clubs and teams because people separate themselves out there too?
Different people need different things. Some people need quiet meditation, others polished music, others intoned liturgy, others "praise music" others altar calls.
You cannot abolish hatred and division by abolishing the divisions because more will always pop up - people are diverse.
You have to work on the deeper level of sowing tolerance.

Hmm. More people are worshipping at sports arenas and malls. If we take your intriquing hypothesis there, then stadiums, arenas, clothing stores, and the like become one. What do you think?
The different churches are a blot on Christianity. However, they do serve the principal of "Birds of a feather flock together". I am more comfortable worshipping in suit and tie / my neighbor does blue jeans. The different churches allow Christianity to reach different socio-economic brackets.
Now if you will all just join my church....

Some churches give a sense of community. They provide shelter, love, and advice for people who need it. But other churches are only in it for the money. I think we should ban mega-churches with thousands of members, and bring back those old time, small churches with about 100 members.

Various churches exist because people have determined that certain things are important enough to separate from others over.
You could never get everyone together, and there's no need to.
Who would decide how things would be done? there would be more splits and disagreements the first day.
