When I sleep too much, I'm even more tired after I get out of bed. You have to find a balance between the amount of sleep that's too little and the amount that's too much, and it's often hard to tell the difference between the two because you feel tired either way. Sleeping more than 7-8 hours a night is probably too much, although some people need more sleep than others, and some need less. Try to find a period of time where you can wake up on your own every day for a week or so (like without an alarm) maybe over the holidays, and then see how much sleep you seem to need.

It depends on your body. The Normal amount of sleep a Person about the age of 14 should get is 7 hours. It seems as though the perfect time. because if you sleep 8-10 hours you are often over tired. Thats when you feel as if you could crash at any given minute. if you sleep 5-6 hours then you might not be getting enough sleep and your mind may not be up to its best ability to perform the next day. Also when you sleep your stomach digests foods better so the longer you sleep the better. But if you sleep to much its still dangerous to your system. This may also sound weird but people who sleep 8-10+ hours a night tend to die younger then someone who sleeps 6-7 hours. So in my personal opinion 7 hours seems to be the perfect amount of hours you should devote to sleep.

If you are a teen, then you need more sleep, so there's not really a limit. However, if you are an adult, I wouldn't sleep more than 9 hours a day at MOST. Stick to eight and you should be fine.
