Depression symptoms present themselves in many ways. Like some of the answers I have read If you are the one with the problem or believe that you have a depressive disorder then the most important thing for you do would be evaluated by a professional that is experienced in depressive disorders. One of the main things that you need to get over is the stigma attached to mental illness. It presents itself with varied symptoms. Some of the symptoms could be: lack of concentration, hopelessness, unhappiness, uncontrollable eating or not eating at all.Lack of positive self-image. No desire to do anything or keep appointments. Some people will lose the will to live and they will separate themselves from friends. You could possible experience physical pain- such as chronic headaches, lack of sleep, body aches and pains. If you are taking medications, you might probably abuse prescription drugs or even illegal drugs. You might possibly develope a drinking problem and develope promisicuous behavior for the attention which usually makes you feel worse in the long run. You make distance yourself from family and friends.

A lot of depressed individuals are in denial about their feelings. I knew I was depressed when days would go by and I didnt feel like getting out of bed or taking a shower or doing things that I usually loved like video games or even eating.

Depression is hard to self regonize. Most people who suffer from depression do not recognize it but their family and friends notice that something is differnt. Some syptoms are not wanting to get up, feeling lonely, feeling that no one understands what you are feeling. Dealing with everyday problems is now more stressful. If you feel or think that you are suffering, talk to someone who can help. This is nothing to be ashamed about and in our stressful society it is becoming more common. Best of luck to you. You can conquer this problem.

it's hard to tell, normally, we will never admit it. Some of the signs would be: crying over small issues/thoughts, refusal to go out, talk to or see people, sleeplessness, etc. If you think so, see a dr. quickly - the longer you wait the worse it could get. You may even need professional counselling. Meantime, chin up !! it may be hard, but TRY !!
