Best approach is to get it off your scalp. That way it won't be able to get in your hair. It originates from your scalp. Your body is constantly shedding its uppermost layer of skin. The best way to solve your problem is to shampoo frequently. If you're observant, you'll eventually figure out how often you need to do it to keep up with the shedding. If you shed a lot, you'll need to do it every day; if your condition changes; that is, you begin to shed less, then you can shampoo less often.

The shampoo commercials would have you believe you need to shampoo everyday. That's not true. You need to shampoo only as often as you need to to maintain the appearance you want. And that could be everyday, but not necessarily so.

If you've tried a bunch of shampoos and they haven't be working, it might not be "dandruff" but another skin condition such as psoriasis. Regular dandruff shampoos aren't usually too effective for this condition, although the tar-based shampoos or high-concentration selsun do have moderate success. Your physician can give you a prescription for a steroid lotion to rub on trouble areas... It should work wonders!

If you have light dandruff try head and shoulders daily. If you have medium dandruff try Selsum Blue 2-3 times a week. If you have heavy dandruff try T-Gel. Its a tar based shampoo and conditioner. Yes I know it smells bad but use it 2-4 times a week for a month and you shouldnt have dandruff for much longer. It works for me and I have psoriasis. Good Luck!

Dandruff comes from 1 of 2 places-excessive dirt and oil buildup, or extremely dry and flaky scalp. So either wash your hair more(try Head and Shoulders), or apply a moisturizer to your scalp at least one a week.

Some companies claim that shampoos can remove dandruff but it is not true. Dandruff is caused due to many reasons mainly internal ones. The internal problem should be treated first. check

Use a regular, non perfume-y shampoo and conditioner for normal hair or whatever kind of hair you have...and use some scalpicin on the scalp, it is like a clear liquid you put on your scalp, with wet or dry hair...

Also, try some Seabreeze, seriously, it works...for whatever reason, the flakes magically disappear...a girl my friend went to beauty school with told me that...
