Does that mean the mind bears the body?
And what bears the mind?

Bible quotations will get thumbs down. So will other religious texts! I'm looking for own answers. He might have created us in his image but i'm sure he wanted us to think for ourselves too otherwise we WOULD be more like the great apes and grunt our way through life.

I found the book a bit too technical for general reading.

Bah Humbug!

WE are three parts in order of importance Spirit, mind and body,
and each should control the lesser. We are indeed images of our
maker and we are required to use our intelligence at all times

The mind is the source of much of the body's approach to life. Interestingly enough, the mind is surrounded by a net of bloodwork, but does not receive the same blood as the body. The mind runs on chemicals and electrical charges.
My mind is short of whatever and is bi-polar. Result: my body ranges from exhaustive mania to suicidal depression. I take lithium for my mind and my body stumbles and falls.
The mind can set the level of esteem which the body must compensate for through extra work for toys or alcohol. The mind remembers the experiences of youth which leave the body acting out and bearing consequences.
Only in pain can the body impact the mind and even here, a well toned mind can overcome most suffering. The body doesn't have a choice when the mind dictatates intolerable pain.

My nose got bigger - my least favorite side effect. My upper arms will NEVER be the same, which is the one I least understand... what do fatter, flabbier arms have to do with having a baby? Seems evolutionarily unnecessary. Pros are that I hardly have any more period cramps, which were debilitating pre-pregnancy. Also, for some details, I definitely notice now how ovulation changes my hormones... The boobs, of course - I breastfed for a long time, so those have definitely changed forever. And finally, I can always say, "oh yeah, well I carried a healthy baby to term and gave birth after a 40 hour labor". That a good excuse for almost anything.

In simple English, when a person is anxious, the body responds. If the person is depressed, the body responds. Strong emotions, especiall those that persist for a long time, cause the bodies hormonal system to get out of whack, as in increased adrenalin and stuff like that. It takes a toll and the body gets sick. Emotional or psychiatric disturbances demand a high price from the body.

Next time give some clue what you are talking about that doesn't take a 10 minute web search!

"Identifies the ways the helplessness and terror of sudden trauma induce changes in brain function and the resulting consequences these changes can have on muscles, digestion, blood pressure, and many other bodily systems"

So the body suffers the consequences of injuries to the spirit. Seem simple enough.

This is another take on the idea that disease is caused by mental and emotional causes. That is to say that hate, greed, resentment, fear all cause problems in our bodies - and very often what hurts can help you pinpoint the problem in your thinking.

I have seen this at work in real life again and again. Louise Hay is the one who taught this stuff most clearly to me - and she has an awesome symptom list and the emotional and mental "cures" to eliminate the problems. She's a wonder, here's her link: http://www.hayhouse.com/details.php?id=267 (it's probably available at Amazon too). She is very friendly and easy to read. I just love her.

It's funny, because we do often think that our mind is not really under our control - but if there is one thing we can do, it is change our mind. Thoughts become things. We need to pick the good ones!

Peace!

Why not?
With self oppression and slavery in idol worshiping The Mummy with two hands stretching out risen from the graveyards in planet of apes.
With self human rights abuse and loss of sovereignty to our creator's universal gifts of life vital for our own survival and advancement of ourselves in planet of apes.
Blindly following the Piped Piper's tune of "My Way" in going to early graves along with The Mummy blindly searching the way back to the graveyards in planet of apes.

The mind is willing but the body is weak. You want to carry the load but can not because your body wears down with each day.

God did create us in His image and it is His will that we think for ourselves. Only He wanted us to have good thoughts. Sin is a casuality of man making his own decisions. May God Bless
