Would you all believe this is the second time I've seen this question on here? How are people so uneducated that they don't know what a penis/vagina is? I mean sure, I've been in the Dog Fancy for many years but I've always known how to tell a male dog from female. Now if you asked me about an Alligator or some other such beast perhaps I would be in doubt but dogs are so OBVIOUS!! I mean either there's this HUGE swinging thing hanging underneath them or there isn't! lol

Dogs have fewer cone receptors in their eyes then humans and so see a world with less vivid colors and fewer details but more motion and contrast. Because of this, dogs rely on vision more to tell that "something" is there and their other senses to tell what that something is. Dogs have an incredible sense of smell and get information on species, gender, health, stress level and a million other things from smell that humans get from sight. Because dogs vary so much in physical characteristics - the most varied species on the planet in size and shape! - it would be difficult or impossible for anyone to tell based on traits other than blatantly sexual traits (i.e. genitals) with vision alone.

I think u just look in the general position of the dog's private area. Hold it up, then it'll resemble a baby, look south, then u'll see a urethra, or a penis and testicles. On females, I think u can see nipples too. OR, U can watch and see how they go to the bathroom, if the dog squats and spreads its legs out to pee, it's a girl. IF it raises it's legs to pee, it's a boy. But boys do have visible testicles. Girls don't have them at all.

If you can't see two lump filled sacks down there, feel for them if this is a puppy. Otherwise look just under the anus and if there in a little vertical slit then you have a girl. Alot of veterinary offices can look for you at no cost if you are still unsure. Good Luck

Um, it should be pretty obvious. If you're talking about a newborn, then the puppy would have a bump if it's a boy.

Check between it's back legs if it has some extra parts it's a male.

Are you serious? It your doggie woggie has a penis, it's a boy. If it doesn't it's a girl. Are you even sure that you have a dog? Are you sure it's not a cat, or a rabbit, or a horse?

Well if it is a male dog you can tell when it goes to the bathroom and it puts its leg up and goes to the bathroom and if it is a girl she just puts her butt down and goes to the bathroom...hope this helps and good luck...

Hmm....just look between its hind legs...balls = boy, no balls = girl. With newborn ones, you can see the tiny penis there if it is a boy.
