I had this same problem. You might want to make an appointment with a podiatrist (foot doctor) to see if you need some inserts. I have very high arches and actually strained the tendon in them when I tried to stand all day. The orthodics that I have now allow me to stand for twelve hours without a problem. Good Luck to you!

You could have several things going on which could be the cause of your ankle pain. In addition to good footwear posture has a lot to do with it. Make sure that you don't lock your knees, stagger your feet if you have to stand in one place and shift your weight between your legs. You could also try getting a rubber mat to stand on. I am not sure what you do all day but if it is at work you could ask your employer to get you one. If these suggestions do not work than I would suggest seeing a Physical Therapist in your area. You could get a referral from a podiatrist or your doctor or if you are in a state with direct access you could go see a PT without a referral.

Get a pair of Crocs. I have the worst feet in the world but Crocs Primas and Crocs Nile are Heaven and I can now walk all I want and stand too.

Have you tried Rockport shoes yet. I found them to be the best for me, when I was teaching and always on my feet. Not actually always, and I don't think youmeant that either, because being on your feet too much is not good for them. I tried the podiatrist too, but he found no problem and just suggested the Rockports. In case you do think you might have a problem with your feet, you might want to get them checked by a GOOD podiatrist (one that you have heard a lot of good things about).

I have high pain tolerance and enjoy wearing any height of heel shoes cuz I LOVE shoes, but I know its really not healthy for heels or balls of our feet in the long run, because the "cushion" is worn away by wearing heels all the time.

Going to a podiatrist(spelling?) might help or maybe try those shoe gel inserts. My grandfather had them and he says they work miracles-but its different for every person/shoe

Dr. Scholls insoles and don't wear high heels if you do that can be a major problem. Be sure to take occasional breaks to sit down. And rub your feet after work.
