Could not hurt. I think this " my country - right or wrong" stuff is crap anyway. I NEVER supported this war and I am not standing unified with those are so dedicated that think We are in it together.
This was a Republican war.

no, most of the people telling us the war was wrong were so full of it and didn't know why the war was wrong but followed what pop. said (the country was really not FOR the war, we just kinda went with it) I was in the Marines at the time. I don't think the war was wrong, I just think we should have left Iraq the way it was afterward and let the people decide what needed to be done. Saddam was a bad man... he killed thousands of people with gas. We need to kill a leader like him once a year, just not use this much money, a tactical cia or marine sniper will do just fine. Yes the war was about oil, yes the war was misrepresented, but if you have ever believed what your govt has told you, you need to ask who was the liar, you for lying to yourself, or them for lying to you which you should have known was a lie.

Until people step back and realize, as you question states, that the Iraq War was a stupid idea doomed to failure, apologies are hollow and nothing is learned. The only result of ‘staying the course” is: failure, defeat, humiliation, destabilization of the region, increased terrorism, and a more dangerous world with far less security for America and Americans.
Bush’s own father wrote (‘A World Transformed’ [1998]) of the first Gulf War:
“Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land.”
And, Colin Powell tried to warn Bush, telling the President, “if you break it, you own it”.
No Middle east expert gave Bush’s plan more than a 50 percent chance of any success, and most (along with everyone who knew anything about the area) predict that the most likely outcome would be a civil war and further destabilization of the region. Even Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, both of whom share a common border with Iraq were opposed to the war.
Prior to the invasion, they both also reminded the President that there were no WMDs and Hussein was no threat to anyone. In fact, Hussein was so powerless that neither country even bothered to monitor their Iraq borders.
From here, things can only get worse. Turkey will never allow anything resembling a Kurdish state on their border. The reason they did not join Bush’s Coalition of the Few is that they were demanding to be allowed to ‘pacify’ northern Iraq. What that meant, of course, is that they wanted to exterminate all the Kurds. Syria has no use for the Kurds either.
The only thing that might, temporarily at least, unite the S’hia and Sunni of Iraq would be if they joined forces to kill all the Kurds and reclaim the northern oil fields. Regardless of whether they do it together or separately, the Kurds are dead and there will be no separate-but-equal division of Iraq.
And to make the situation worse, Bush never made a correct decision and bungled every step he took. The Taliban again control Afghanistan and are more powerful than ever, as is al Qaeda.
The Iraqis state that life was better and more secure under Saddam before America invaded. They also feel that it is OK to attack and kill American soldiers and they want American troops out of their country.
Just how badly did Bush have to screw things up in order to make life for the Iraqi people worse than it was under Saddam? How could anyone possibly make a terrible situation even worse? Somehow Bush managed.
-----------------------------------
I vote, do you? -
That is BS. While most enlisted personnel have supported the Bush and the war, that vast majority of senior officers hate Bush for sending them down the path to defeat and then trying to put the blame on them.
I have seen Naval Officers (in uniform) boo Rumsfeld (when he was Defense Secretary) to his face and describe him with the phrase 'F'in ******' (that was on the night of the 5th year anniversary of 9/11). I've heard Admirals refer to Bush as 'President Dickweed'.
I have also visited Walter Reed AMC more than a dozen times and have seen the incredible damage done to so many young American soldiers. I still recall passing by one young couple walking down a hallway. The wife/girlfriend in tears as she walked beside her brave young soldier with no face (and I mean -NO FACE), even his own mother could not have recognized him.
I have stood inline behind them in WRAMC shops and paid their bill when they did not have enough the money for a Coke or candy bar (on their behalf I would like to thank Bush and his entire heartless, un-American scum administration for the lack of respect and care they provide to our young military people).
Maybe I am just old fashioned, but it seems to me that if a person serves his country in combat and ends up in a military hospital from battlefield wounds, the very least this nation can do is BUY THEM A DAMN COKE for crying out loud.

NO! How did you get to make that final decision that it is wrong. I disagree as the most of the Chiefs of Staff & all the military personel that I know including 3 nephews, & my son, an Army Ranger & Officer & lots of his friends that I met recently during a visit to base including most of his platoon who just got back from Afghanistan 2 months ago. (they were in the restuarant we were in) They came up to meet the Captain's parents & we discussed the war. How will allowing to terrorist to grow stronger & overtake other Middle East countries benefit us?

No, I am sorry, I have been in war and I have killed many and I still ask "Why". I don't have an answer, but there has to be a better way than killing each other.
