Yes, it does. It all depends, though, on your metabolism. I'm not a doctor. But in my experience, spicy foods can either help you or hurt you. Too much of anything is not good for you, so be careful.
I love spicy food, but tooooo spicy. Halepenos, for ex:, are too spicy .. Tabasco-love it! A-1-love it! But, also white/red wine vinegar & lemon do the same thing as spicy stuff!!! ( I eat lemon on most everything!!)
Just be careful & ask a professional if you're not sure.

I've read that hot peppers and such make your brain think your mouth is literally on fire and releases endorphins as a pain killer.
